No wonder Valerie has been such a good campaign manager for Joe; she‘s frank, funny, and knows just the angle for a story. She wrote about their childhoods and how Joe was the brother who didn‘t mind little sis tagging along. She wrote of his first campaign for Senate, the surprise win, and their family‘s reaction to the death of Joe‘s first wife and daughter. She chronicled Joe‘s three presidential bids. She wrote a bit about herself, too.

This is the memoir of a younger sister and social studies teacher who ended up managing decades of US Senate campaigns for her brother Joe. It‘s about family that implicitly trusts each other more than anyone else. They pull together for every tragedy and laugh plenty when times are good. Even if you don‘t agree with their politics, this memoir is heartwarming and full of faith.
