Very short (~ 2 pages) stories about random people in a neighborhood, full of magical realism- not as intriguing as I hoped but still an enjoyable read 🩵 4/5⭐️

I was not a fan of these short stories. There were nearly 40, but i only really found a handful interesting enough. Most of them were about 2 1/2 pages long. I didn‘t find them funny or clever- they felt like random thoughts/ideas in book form. The stories focus on a neighborhood and community. No one is really likable. I think I was expecting it to be more cohesive and heartwarming, and now I don‘t think I‘m into magic realism🤔😭

Cute short story collection about a fantastical neighborhood in Japan. The magical realism was fun and the 4-5 page looks into the neighbors‘ lives kept the pace moving. Enjoyable and good if you‘re looking for some more lighthearted Japanese literature.

I read this one back in April and I really enjoyed these interconnecting short stories but some of them were quite #bizarre.

The title explains this book of vignettes, as we see a neighborhood through the eyes of a girl. There‘s whimsy and some magical realism here, but in the end it was a bit ho-hum for me.
