#BookReport 32/22

Three thin books, I don‘t have much time to read. There were actually four but Chandelier by Mieko Kawakami is already on its way to @batsy

I loved that one and A Single Rose too. Both are about Japan and I can‘t get enough of that 🤷🏻‍♀️

Velvetfur There's something about Japanese literature isn't there....! ❤️ 2y
squirrelbrain I just looked up your review of A Single Rose (as I loved Hedgehog) - it sounds wonderful! 2y
TrishB I know the don‘t have much time feeling! But still reading ❤️ 2y

Loved this poem. Yasmina Nuny writes about her motherland #GuineaBissau, black womanhood, politics and Kanye. And cursing, obviously 🙌🏾

Interesting collection of poetry. Themes include love, being a black woman and political thoughts.
I liked the political ones best. Although my favourite was Expletives. Response to women shouldn‘t swear😁
Thanks Rachel 😘

Velvetfur That's a great cover too 😊 2y
Cinfhen That is an awesome cover!! I fucking love it!!! 2y

This, on the other hand, I *really* liked. Thanks for highlighting it @Currey ! Poetry from a poet from #GuineaBissau, currently Midlands, UK, writing about being a woman, being black, love, language, colonialism and her home country.

This is her reading of A Black Woman Walks into a Church: https://azmagazine.co.uk/azbhmpoetry-when-they-dismiss-my-blackness-by-yasmina-n...

#readaroundtheworld

rockpools She also has a poem called Expletives as an answer to those who object to her use of them (video contains expletives!)

Also good to discover a poetry press worth exploring.

BookwormM Woohoo good month for you 🎉🎉 2y
Ruthiella @ReadingEnvy Might be interesting for you Jenny if you still need a book for Guinea-Bissau for your reading around the world...🤔 2y

A book of poetry by feminist poet Yasmina Nuny who was born in Portugal but raised in Africa. She has called herself a Guinea-Bissau poet. The rhythms of the poems call out for reading aloud. The spoken word sings of her experience as a woman in this world. A quick read for #readaroundtheworld #guinea-bissau

rockpools Wow - nice find! 3y
BookwormM Well done I couldn‘t get hold of this one 3y
