Fitness for Every Body: Strong, Confident, and Empowered at Any Size | Meg Boggs
5 posts | 3 read | 5 to read
From body-positive Instagram influencer and content-creator Meg Boggs, an inclusive and empowering fitness and lifestyle guide to inspire readers of every shape and size. For years, Meg Boggs believed the narrative told to her by society: she thought that as a plus-sized woman, she could never be fit; she could never be strong; she could never love exercise; she could never be enough. But when Meg became a mom, she decided to rethink her preconceived notions and embrace her body for what it is, not what diet culture said it should be. In Fitness for Every Body, Meg shares her personal story and inspires you to celebrate your own body for all its capabilities. Featuring a dozen step-by-step, full-body workouts, this book is more than a workout guide or a training manual. Its a reminder that youre more than just your weight, that you are stronger than you believe, and that just because you might not be thin, doesnt mean that you cant be an athlete. Your body is capable of doing incredible thingsyou just have to let it. Equally uplifting and enlightening, this body-positive fitness guide will inspire you to love your body no matter your size and to approach food and exercise in a way that benefits both mental and physical health and wellbeing.

Lately, I‘ve been reading more body positive/fat acceptance and health at every size books (see below), so I was glad to read Meg Boggs‘ fitness book. If you‘re plus size and looking to start exercising and weight training, check out this book! While disability prevents me from power lifting and some of the upper body exercises, I was glad to get warm up/cool down tips as well as her leg day exercises to add to do on days I‘m not walking. 👍🏻⬇️

Megabooks I‘ve thrown out my scale and am trying to practice “intuitive eating” which is outlined in the book I‘ll tag here. The diet industrial complex was not working for me. We each have to make health decisions we‘re comfortable with, and for me, combining non-punishing exercise and not having “bad foods” or calorie counting is working. I‘m not looking to lose weight. I am hoping to feel healthier. 3y
AmyG Well said. It‘s just another societal shame that people are judged on their size. There is no correct size for being healthy. (edited) 3y
5feet.of.fury I need to check out this book! Meg Boggs is one of my favorite people on Instagram 3y
Megabooks @AmyG thanks!! 👍🏻👍🏻 (edited) 3y

My B&N haul! The tagged book is the one I really wanted. Meg is a plus size fitness guru, and I love following her on Instagram. Excited for this!

Laymon‘s essay collection and Exciting Times have been on my TBR forever, so I took the plunge and got them. I‘ve read the Sittenfeld, but it was a bargain book, and I love having short story collections around.

I browsed for a whole hour while dad had PT. It was glorious!

Prairiegirl_reading Meg is fabulous on Instagram!!! I didn‘t realize the book came out already, I‘m trying to limit my insta time. 3y
Megabooks @Prairiegirl_reading yes!!! It just came out Tuesday. I‘m excited to read it! 3y
KarenUK Aw! So glad you had a lovely time at B&N.... 💕.... hoping you love Exciting Times. I really enjoyed it. 💕 3y

Megabooks @KarenUK I‘m looking forward to it!! I do love browsing a good B&N. Even though Indiana has no mask mandate, B&N had one, and the other shoppers were so respectful of each other‘s space. This is the closet one to me - about 45 minutes away. It must be awesome to work there!! 💜👍🏻 3y
BarbaraBB Thanks for tagging me, I missed this post indeed! I‘m gonna check out Meg on Instagram and loved the Sittenfeld too. 3y
BarbaraBB @KarenUK My very first time in the US was in 1998 or 1999. A friend of mine lived in Laguna Beach CA and when I visited we went to B&N in Laguna (or maybe LA, not sure). I couldn‘t believe my eyes: a bookstore where you could get coffee and sit down with your books 🤍! I still remember my haul of that day! 3y
Megabooks @BarbaraBB if you look at my stories on Instagram I‘ve posted a link to Meg‘s account as well as one of her fun videos. She also posts workouts. A lot of strength training, which I need. And yes, our first coffee shop in my town was in a Books-A-Million. We were all so excited for the coffee shop in addition to the bookstore. I actually worked there in 1998! I had a lot of friends stopping by. Unfortunately it closed during the pandemic. ☹️ 3y
Cinfhen Im so excited for you!!! What a fabulous way to use that time!! Tagged book looks awesome 🤩 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen it was so fun!! 🥰 3y
Cinfhen There really is something magical about walking into a bookstore ☺️ 3y
Cinfhen By the way your post inspired me, I just ordered this book ( not the one you posted) but one that has 50 exercises with 3 modifications for each exercise to fit your comfort level. I NEED to start building back my strength...now I just need that nifty watch😉 3y
BarbaraBB Thanks Meg, will check out your insta 3y
KarenUK @Megabooks Yes, every B&N has a mask mandate... and yes I do really love working there. I‘m very lucky! 💕 3y
Centique I‘m so glad to see a book like this exists! I‘ve started strength training in my 40s and can‘t believe I spent so long thinking this stuff was only for weightlifters or people chasing a certain body image. It‘s made such a difference to work on things like correcting my posture and joint mobility from previous injuries. I hope lots of people get help and inspiration from her and I‘ll check out her Insta! 3y

4/5

I love the approach to body positivity & fitness Meg Boggs shares in this book. She talks about not assuming what your body can and can't do, but to actually try and see what it can do. I was motivated to try doing unmodified push-ups occasionally. The workouts she listed felt approachable and understandable to a beginner to strength workouts. It was a motivational and informative read.

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Every person who has a body should read this book. It was an uplifting reminder that we are all humans, and that our bodies all work differently, but they are all amazing. Meg Boggs is an inspirational writer. This is a powerful and necessary view for people to have, and we need more books like this.
