This may seem like a strange book to be excited about, but if you like funny, well-resesrched, informative books about obscure or taboo topics, you'll like this one! Recommended on a podcast, I was surprised by how hilarious, thorough, and educational I found it. Should be required reading in highschool! So much to learn. Not just about STDs but contact tracing, Tuskegee experiments, good vs. bad bacteria, and the dangers of GOOP, to name a few.

If you love medicine and history, this is a great book! Park examines the history and science of STDs. She brings in the stories of researchers, patients, and innovators. Informative and fun! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 #audiobook

I spun the Wheel of Rereads last night and got Strange Bedfellows. I‘m 48% in.

Then I reconfigured, added some, and spun again this morning and now I‘m also reading Self Care (tagged below).

I really enjoy using this spin app when I‘m stuck on what to read!

Currently #ImmersionReading what promises to be a really interesting #publichealth book 🤓

UPDATE: recommended! Each chapter works as a short intro to different issues related to sexually transmitted infections, in a mix of reportage, memoir, and science writing. The author narrates the audiobook and it‘s well worth listening to.

Palimpsest When I see the words Strange bedfellows I immediately think of the line from Shakespeare‘s The Tempest and I‘m guessing that‘s where this author took their title from. 4y

🤓 #NerdStatus You may not know this, but I am crazy about public health, so this book was fascinating.

Park is an STD researcher and doctor in San Francisco. In this book, she covers all major STDs from historical, practical, and scientific standpoints. She also discusses condoms, hair removal, and even contact tracing. This is NOT a sexual health guide. It‘s more pop sci, and I definitely recommend it! #audiobook #24in48

Reviewsbylola Ugh Cindy I hope you‘re feeling better! I got my first dose of Moderna Thursday night and my arm is still sore!! Friday I had chills and a fever and took two naps after work. 😬 Terrified for my second dose but it still wasn‘t a fraction of the discomfort that I had from covid so I‘m thankful. @Cinfhen 5y
