Lavender and Wood are the main characters in this police procedural set in the reign of George III. The first in the series it was really odd that I kept feeling I had met this pair before and had read similar storylines in other books along with the recollection of seeing some scenes on TV that were described in this book. The storyline was riveting throughout with lots of informative explanation on how the case was proceeding. An excellent book

A dark, but fun Victorian mystery. I guessed part of what happened, but then thought I had it wrong because of all of the twists and turns. A fun listen!
