Ego Is the Enemy | 
pickAnother great volume from Ryan Holiday. I didn't think I had much of an ego until I read this book. Yeah, I have some work to do. It opened my eyes to the realization that even a little ego can be detrimental. This is practical Stoicism and will improve your life. Read it.
If your hesitant to read this book, don‘t.
But it definitely need to come at the right time .
This, by far is the book that extends deap-seated insights of how true nature of ego weakens one person. Personally, I find this book inspiring and definitely stimulating.
Wherever you are, whatever you plan to do, the only enemy you have to battle with is your EGO. Cliche as it is but ego can make or break you. We live in a palatial world, it can sometimes be overwhelming or degrading it all depends on how you maneuver every turn.
"Finding refuge in distraction". Relates alot to me especially during o Level year where my anxiety was so bad that I rather do anything else like watching movies and videos rather than facing it head on
Because they constantly observe and listen, the humble improve....No matter what you've done u to this point, you better still be a student.....It is not enough only to be a student at the beginning. It is a position that one has to assume for life.
Everytime you sit down to work, remind yourself: I am delaying gratification by doing this. I am passing the marshmallow test. I an earning what my ambition burns for. I AM MAKING AN INVESTMENT IN MYSELF INSTEAD OF IN MY EGO
Is it ten thousand hours or twenty thousand hours to mastery? The answer is that it doesn't matter. There is no end zone.
Our ability to learn, to adapt, to be flexible, to build relationships, all of this is dulled by pride.
Are there not glass so important that we'd put it with anything to achieve them?
We see it in na ability to meet nayone else on their terms, an unwillingness to take a step back in order to potentially take several steps forward.

The writing is clear, direct, and concise. In our ego-driven culture, this book invites us to step back and examine what‘s truly important (the news is full of people not doing exactly that) and introducing readers to Stoic philosophy.
pickYup!!! A must read. We all have egos and being aware of them is key. One of the most common mistakes that most new entrepreneurs make is neglecting personal change and development. It takes a kind of person to thrive and make it in business. Increasing your subconsciousness is key.
I started this book this morning, randomly. It mixes stoicism with history and psychology. I enjoy a good mashup.
And that's what's so insidious about talk. Anyone can talk about himself or herself. Even a child knows how to gossip and chatter. Most people are decent at hype and sales. So what is scarce and rare? Silence. The ability to deliberately keep yourself out of the conversation and subsist without its validation. Silence is the respite of the confident and strong.
Never give reasons for what you think or do until you must. Maybe, after a while, a better reason will pop into your head.
Your potential, the absolute best you're capable of--that's the metric to measure yourself against. Your standards are. Winning is not enough. People can get lucky and win. People can be assholes and win. Anyone can win. But not everyone is the best possible version of themselves.

All of us waste precious precious life doing things we don't like, to prove ourselves to people we don't respect, and to get things we don't want.
The only relationship between work and chatter is that one kills the other. Let the others slap each other on the back in the lab or the gym. Plug that whole--that one, right in the middle of your face--that can drain you of your vital life force. Watch what happens. Watch how much better you get.
pickA ton of practical information in here that makes sense inherently. The problem I imagine, lies with the embodiment and application of refusing your ego in the never ending struggle towards success and true fulfillment.
All in all, I took a lot from this book and I'll definitely be reading it again, probably more than once. The analogy of sweeping sits well with me. You can't expect that sweeping the floor once will keep it clean forever.
