The fifth book in the Mistborn series. The first one of Wax and Wayne was so-so, but this second one ads to the mythology and answers a few lingering questions. There's also a few plot twists I didn't see coming, which is always a plus.

I started this book this morning, randomly. It mixes stoicism with history and psychology. I enjoy a good mashup.

It really does teach you how not to give a fuck.

An enjoyable introduction to a compelling series. I am not one for detective novels but the end of the world theme is the part of the book that really stands out.

This is the 5th book in the Alex Verus series. I have been looking forward to finally catching up on these as the characters (a mage who can see the future, a cursed woman, and a giant spider) are some of the more interesting characters I have come across. #AlexVerus

Original and quirky. The email chapters were a little jarring because I listened to this on Audible, but the characters still came through strong, as does the witty dialogue. It's like Office Space meets You've Got Mail, funny and romantic.

A fast paced thrill ride through unexpected territories. I didn't like the wife.

"You know what I don't like about her? The way she spells her name with an IE. Everyone knows Emily is spelled E-M-I-L-Y. It's not cute to spell it with an IE. It doesn't make you unique. It doesn't set you apart from all the other Emilies in the world. It's pointlessly confusing."

I'm reminded of Office Space while reading this one. "PC Load Letter? Wtf."

There are a lot of facets to writing books. Most of the time people focus on plots and character wants. This one focuses on arcs a particular character might go through. From a Flat Arc to a Positive Change Arc; you've seen it all, you just might not understand what they are. This books helps clarify those arcs, because not only does your character need a want, they also need a lie.
