Saying Thanks and Beyond
Saying Thanks and Beyond: Is Saying Thank You Enough? | Ralph Mosgrove
1 post
The words thank you were a common exchange when author Ralph Mosgroves wife, Elsie, became disabled from a fall, breaking her hip and causing a compression fracture at T12 and L1 of the vertebra. Confined to using a four-wheel walker, she experienced the kindness of strangers who stood aside to allow her to enter before them. The Mosgroves took notice of the kindness offered and wondered how one could make thank you more meaningful in response. In Saying Thanks and Beyond, Ralph explores ways to respond to acts of kindness, to go beyond the words, and to find possibilities. He offers ideas to inspire you to become a better person and give someone else that emotional liftlike an elderly person who lost their independence or a soldier who cant open a door for himself because of loss of limb. Mosgrove emboldens you to change your world and give a legacy of yourself to the generation who is watching. I was raised to be polite, to use please and thank you appropriately. Reading Ralph Mosgroves delightful essay on Saying Thanks and Beyond gave me a new perspective on those old automatic responses. Why not offer just a bit more appreciation than is expected? A verbal lagniappea little extra. Try Ralphs formula. The recipient of the words will smile, and you will too! Carol Perry, Author, Witch City Mystery series

Today we delivered over 200 bouquets of flowers to doctors, nurses and essential workers. The flowers were purchased from a flower farmer whose business has had to shutter during Covid19. It was a win win and a nice way to say thanks to all these heroes who work day & night to keep us all safe. Proud to be part of a wonderful community of caring individuals. #StayPositive #PayItForward #GivingThanks

Cinfhen Awww, thanks for the love @KarenUK @Bookzombie @LiteraryinLititz although all I did was purchase some flowers 💐 I love the concept of helping small businesses while recognizing the sacrifices that others are making. 4y
JennyM Bless your heart. Sending you love ♥️ 4y
Cinfhen Sending love back at ya @JennyM 😘😘 4y
CoffeeAndABook Wow this is wonderful!!! As an ex-nurse (13 yrs in the ER & infectious disease ward) my heart is full of love and admiration for those hospital workers on the front lines right now. I love that you found a way to show your appreciation in such a tangible way. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I often feel the nightly clapping at the window is ridiculous in the face of what they‘re accomplishing every day. Sending lots of love 💗 4y
Cinfhen Awww, thank you @CoffeeAndABook It‘s a small token but I love that it helped the flower farmer too❤️ Hope you‘re doing well xx (edited) 4y
CoffeeAndABook 🌺 yes! It‘s insane how many businesses are hit by this. I hear a lot of (flower) farmers have to destroy their produce bc they can‘t set up new contracts quickly enough, when they had restaurant contracts for example. What a horrible shame all around. I‘m doing fine all in all, up & down emotionally but healthy, which I count as a blessing. I tried responding to your comment a few days ago but it might not have come through.Hope you‘re well also? 4y
Cinfhen My Litsy has been acting up 😞im not able to post sometimes and my comments don‘t load. I‘m pretty sure I sent you a reply but who knows anymore @CoffeeAndABook It‘s hard enough to remember what day of the week it is 😆We are all well too, Thank God 🙏🏼Just worried about the long term economic situation and of course the safety of my family who are in the States. I still don‘t really believe what we are currently living through. Sending love 💕 4y
britt_brooke So lovely! 💚 4y
CoffeeAndABook @Cinfhen I‘ve noticed about Litsy acting weird 🙄 ah well, why not - the rest of the world is crazy.... I can totally relate to your worries about family in the US and worries about economic fallout etc. It‘s so scary but cannot be dealt with right now, that will be our job in six months or a year. For now our job is to stay at home and wash our hands, as unsatisfactory as it is 😤 So glad we have our love of books to fall back on 💓 4y
