Listen To Me: A Fusion Novel | Kristen Proby

Seduction is quickly becoming the hottest new restaurant in Portland, and Addison Wade is proud to claim one fifth of the credit. Shes determined to make it a success and cant think of a better way to bring in new customers than live music. But when former rock star Jake Keller swaggers through the doors to apply for the weekend gig, she knows shes in trouble. Addie instantly recognizes himhis posters were plastered all over her bedroom walls in high school. Hes all bad boy . . . exactly her type and exactly what she doesnt need.Jake Keller walked away from the limelight five years ago and yearns to return to whats always driven him: the music. If he gets to work for a smart-mouthed, funny-as-hell bombshell, all the better. But talking Addie into giving him the job is far easier than persuading her that he wants more than a romp in her bed. Just when she begins to drop her walls, Jakes past finally catches up with him. Will Addie be torn apart once again or will Jake be able to convince her to drown out her doubts and listen to her heart?

Read this book in dutch. It wasn't the best translation. Poor storyline. Expected more from this.

The good: men who sing and play the guitar are so sexy 🔥 Not so good: the name of the restaurant (Seduction), the hero‘s pet name for the heroine (Sweetness), dumb break up (poor communication 👎🏽), and the song the hero wrote for the heroine (it was actually recorded and it is so BORING). I do like the relationship between the 5 women, 6 if you include their beautician. Is that a word that‘s still used?

It's Friday... 💃, listen to the music and let go for only a moment. This series set in a restaurant owned by 4 friends, each finding love is in my TBR list. #happinessisresistance

Today is National Day of Listening so I‘m using day #twentythree of #NovemberByTheNumbers to say something I hope all #secretsantagoespostal participants will hear. Please try not to stress about how your package to your match won‘t be good enough. I‘ve seen people post they‘re so worried they won‘t participate again. You‘re sending someone who loves to read a book or books. You‘re thinking of them and, in this, the thought really does matter.

ReadingOver50 I participated last year. It seems people are really upping their game this year and sending very extravagant packages. I feel that I can‘t afford to send so much, so I worry that my match will be disappointed 😔 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @ReadingOver50 I‘ve noticed that packages seem to get more and more extravagant, and I think that‘s why people are worried. I think that‘s worth addressing more widely. I hope to spark some conversation with my post because I don‘t want people to feel like they‘re not doing enough when they‘re sending someone a gift. Gifts should never be about how much they cost but the thought and care that goes into them. 6y
jpmcwisemorgan @ReadingOver50 Some of us also have better access to affordable books - and I know I certainly don‘t mind used books and maybe for future events that should be something that‘s encouraged. I used Book Outlet for most of the books I‘m sending, which means I‘m able to send more. It saddens me that people may feel like they‘re not doing enough. 6y

tpixie Well said! This is for fun! Not to be stressful!! 6y
TheWordJar Excellent post! 6y
Kalalalatja Great post - and important! I agree with @ReadingOver50 the boxes are getting bigger and more extravagant each time, but I try not to let that affect my way of doing the swaps. I'm only a student, so my budget isn't the greatest, but I try to really put thought into the boxes I send. Personally, I would rather have 1 book where I now my match has really thought about what I might like, than 5 books and items that are generic, if that makes sense. 6y
Pogue I crochet to help my stress level. EVERYONE I mail something to gets a hand made thing. 6y
Avanders Agree with all of this!! It is 💯 the thought and effort!! ♥️🎄♥️🎄♥️ (edited) 6y

I‘m using the same photo from yesterday because it fits! I do like to #listen to books from time to time. I prefer nonfiction because I think they work better with chores - I feel like I‘m learning something AND getting stuff done. Audible and Amazon sometimes offer some great deals on audiobooks so I encourage you to check them out. #30daysofreadathon

This was cute. Had really good female friendships, a pretty stubborn heroine, and a fun musician hero. Definitely going to continue the series. #romantsy

The banter and characters were great but both Jake and Addie's back stories felt sort of tacked on. That could have been fine but they ended up being the root of the emotional conflict. So then the conflict felt shallow and a bit forced. This IS the first book I've read by her, so I think I'll give the 2nd one a shot because the characters WERE a strong point. Maybe with a different conflict she can do better.

I found the fluffiest, most different from Kindred thing on my shelf to read today. I hope.

moranadatter I hope it's as fluffy as you want it to be. Parts of Kindred still haunt me more than ten years after reading it. 8y

If you're a fan of Kristen Proby's previous family saga/companion series, you'll probably like this one too. It has a similar feel with its bossy guy + independent gal combo. Great secondary cast. Sebastian York is great as the male POV audio narrator; took me a while to warm to Arielle DeLisle.

3🌟 Three Thoughts 1) was really enjoying this one but ending totally killed it for me with pointless break up to end all pointless break ups and the making up was just too blah 2) not a fan of that cliff hanger ending 3) Great banter between MCs just really with had avoided that pointless break up

I'm never a fan when MC starts off with a boyfriend that is not the hero 😖

jaimearkin SAME!! Lol 8y
Loveisnotatriangle ME EITHER!! I also hate when the love interest has a girlfriend. More recently I'll skip a book in these circumstances. 8y
Irisheyz77 @jaimearkin @Loveisnotatriangle luckily the BF is very short lived. Gone by chapter 3...No love triangle here...praise be!! 8y

Who's in the mood for (possibly angsty former rockstar) romance ... Apparently me. Hoping this is more hit than miss- especially after my last few amazing reads! Have you read this?

Pavan I do love this cover 8y
