Bailedbailed

I received this book in a #GoodReadsgiveaway.
This book is so depressing. I bailed about 100 pages into it and haven‘t looked back. I think a lot of people really like this book, so YMMV. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Pickpick

This was a long 456-page book club read, but it flowed swiftly. The author brought so many of the WWII tragedies to life. My only complaint is that each of the three narrators had the same voice, and occasionally I would forget who was narrating the chapter I was reading.

1/10. Maybe 2/10. The story could have been good. But the writing really suffered. It was hard not to roll my eyes at much of the dialogue - and this wasn't helped by a bad narration. #audiobooks #LitsyAtoZ #18

So...what do you do when you're listening to an #audiobook but the voice of the narrator is just...annoying? I like the book so far, but the voice! The voice!!

Crystalblu That is a rough one! I've been chased away by a bad narrator a few times! 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Usually I'll just switch to the print version and read it myself. 7y
drokka First I'll check if it improves by changing the speed. But if it's the narrator's voice rather than the tempo, then I walk away, check to see if there's another audio with a different narrator (unless it's a classic it's unlikely), and if not, then print version it is. 7y
sprainedbrain I switch to reading it... paper or kindle! 7y
Wannabe_Quijote I'm not sure I want to switch to print. I guess I'll have to tough it out... 7y

Part of my WW 2/Holocaust tangent. Good but sad

Pickpick

This is not a book filled with grand gestures of saving people but is rather the fictional story of how one person, who did terrible things, found a way to save lives. It was well-written and moved from viewpoint to viewpoint of the three broken angels in the title. I started the book and could not put it down. It's sad, but hopeful. I think that reminders of hope in the face of evil are always beneficial, no matter how we find them.

jpmcwisemorgan Entry one in the #bookisholympics. I'm going for gold! 8y

My goal for #bookisholympics may be to see how many books I can read simultaneously. This one is probably going to make me cry but, then, I am the one who was certain there was going to be a different outcome for Anne Frank each time I read her diary. My brain knew it wasn't the case but my heart couldn't understand why we do the things we do to one another. It still doesn't. I'm two chapters and it's already hard.
