Meh. I didn‘t love this.

It‘s about a woman who has depression and her family and boyfriend urge her constantly to get on meds. She, however, likes herself how she is and would like to be left alone.

I thought about bailing several times, and don‘t feel like I would have missed out if I had. Maybe better for someone who can relate to Janet more?

Cute dog on the cover is the best part for me.

I loved this one! It read like a short story to me, in the sense that it was very focused. It had a few characters and one central plot and theme. It dealt with the topic of depression in such a nuanced and approachable way, that I really appreciated. It made me think twice about our culture‘s obsession and need for happiness. I loved Janet, she was so adorable and funny.

This is a book I had to be in the right mood for, and I was today!

Janet is sad but really no more sad than most of us in the post-modern world. Everyone in her life takes anti-depressants, and they don‘t understand why she just won‘t join them. Then a special pill to get you through the holidays comes along, and Janet asks for a prescription. Kristen Sieh does an great job narrating this mostly stream of consciousness novel. #audiobook ⬇️

Making some Christmas fudge and listening to a happily depressed woman figure out how she's going to make it through this year's Christmas hell. An utter delight.

1. I usually keep them if it's a book I'm fond of; as I don't buy physical copies these days unless I know it's a keeper. I give them away if it's not a book I'm likely to re-read.
