bsiqueira The UDL strategy would be 7.1 “Optimize individual choice.” In order for students to come up with their own idea for a story line. Followed by ESOL #36 “Ask numerous questions which require high level thinking responses” to push the creativity of the story development. 4y

Journey is a Caldecott honor F wordless picture book by Aaron Becker. This book follows a young girl and her “journey” through a fantasy land. I believe this book would be great for a RT and for my students to create a script because there are no words in this book. Students can take turns being the narrators and the little girl main character.

What‘s interesting about this hook is that it does not contain words but just beautiful images our her journey. I think this would be great for a LC because students could share the imagination with one another on what they think is happening in the story. #ucflae3414f19

cassandram A site that could be useful is https://www.storybreathing.com/journey/. It shares a video version of the book and the creation of the book from the author. It then could provide students with examples on how with just images the author creates a beautiful story. 4y

cassandram I would apply UDL 1.1 by offering ways the students could customize what is happening in the wordless story. This would be great with ESOL strategy 10 by paring and sharing with other students what they think is happening in the story. 4y

Checked this out of the Elkin library. I've probably picked it up in Barnes & Noble a dozen times. It was great to finally get all the way through. There are no words, just a cool fantasy story told with pictures and it's the first book in a trilogy! My son liked it too!

Absolutely gorgeous. Reminded me of a cross between "Coraline" and that old cartoon Chalk Zone. Stunning illustrations -- you don't need words to be amazed by this story, and you don't need my words to convince you. 5/5 stars

A beautiful and wonderful wordless picture book. It tells the story of a little girl with her trusty red crayon. With it she can go on a wonderful adventure and see things not seen in our world, such as flying steam ships. Excellently planned and illustrated.
