Happy 4th . Jasper Johns painted the American flag image over 40 times.This one is called 3 Flags (1958 )and is in the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art.He said that picking an iconic image frees you to focus on the process and materials in the creation of the painting.

I didn't get to meet the author because I was standing duty. (Back in 1990.) Thankfully my brothers covered me and made sure I got a signed copy of his book. I'm sad to report haven't actually read it yet. Probably because I know it will be a heavy read. Happy fourth for those who celebrate. #authorautograph

My state 🙄

This one was between a 'pick' and 'so-so' for me. The story was strong but he often switched between first and third person which often pulled me out of the story. Overall, Kovic told a powerful story and really brought to light the horror and continued struggle of those who fought in Vietnam. I commend him for being so open about such a difficult time.

Snagged this one. I didn't know that the movie was based on a book. Starting this one today-seems appropriate.
