Praise for the Emily Tempest series: "Beguiling first mystery . . . wonderful. The New York Times Book Review Startling turns of phrase, vivid Outback setting, and rich rendering of cultural differences. . . . One cannot help but be enriched by it.Anne Perry Emily Tempest is appointed an aboriginal community police officer for the Moonlight Downs station. Investigating the possible murder of an elderly geologist, she encounters Danny, an emotionally fragile Stonehouse mob teenager who is traumatized by the image of poison flowing green. The terrain of Australia, a Japanese rock garden painter, a rash of unexplained illnesses, and the implausibility of two elderly friends killing each other present Emily with a unique puzzle. Adrian Hyland won Australias 2007 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Novel for Moonlight Downs, published in Australia as Diamond Dove, which was also a Book Sense Notable book. He spent many years in the Northern Territory living and working among the indigenous people. He now teaches at La Trobe University and lives in Melbourne.

Day 28 - #gunshot #nofemmeber

I am longing for your poison
Like a cancer for its prey
Shot an arrow, in your harbor
Where you waited in the rain
I am siren, I am ivy
I am no one, I'm nobody
I am longing for your honey
I am longing for your love
And the shot goes through my head and back
Gunshot, I can't take it back
Lay me down in your ocean
Carry me and my burden
I was dreaming about you honey
I was hoping you'd save me

Billypar Love her lyrics: very poetic and soulful. 5y

This is #2 in a series that's been on my tbr for a couple of years. Emily Tempest has just been appointed an Aboriginal Community Police Officer. When a murder occurs, she takes issue with her boss's conclusions, and sets out to investigate for herself.

Second book in the Emily Tempest series about a half-Aboriginal woman trying to figure out her identity whilst solving a murder. Love the language and humour of this series.
