Book 62🎧
This one was missing the “spook” that I enjoy from Duncan.
It was a slow starting but it rallied for the end👏🏻
Was a super cute ending & I do love a little magic✨

As a teen I loved Lois Duncan. I don't recall ever reading this one before, so I thought I'd give it a try for #Scarathlon2020.

Overall, it was okay. A story of two siblings who are left special gifts by their grandmother. One has a gift of music, the other magic, but neither know what to do with their gifts.

The story is slow. Maybe as a teen I would have enjoyed it more, but it didn't hold up as an adult.

I listened to the audio. It was a quick YA read, and things moved quickly, but likely due to being YA. I enjoyed it. I‘m not sure any of the kids were particularly likeable, but they‘re teenagers (at least the girls are), so...

Day 8 #AprilBookShowers #samebookdifferentcover I'm picking one of my favorite childhood books & my first Lois Duncan book for this photo prompt. The first cover is the one I had growing up & somehow lost along the way😥, the next 2 are covers I found used & have now, & the last 3 are some of the other cover variations I found online. It was first published in 1971 so there have been several different covers, some more appealing than others.😀👍

TheBookAddict Oh my goodness, I had forgotten about the Louis Duncan books I used to read as a teen. This was one of my favorites. I borrowed it, the one with the cover in the bottom middle picture, from the school library. 7y
Laalaleighh Like I literally feel completely differently about that book and my desire to read it based on the covers. 7y
L_auren Bottom middle is the format I read all of her books in around 2001 7y

This one came back to me once i opened the book. Felt a lot like being wrapped in an old blanket - even if it's unsettling and makes you a wee but uneasy rather than comfy

#ThrowbackThursday 'A Gift of Magic' was my first Lois Duncan book in grade school & I loved this story of Nancy, left w/a gift of ESP by her grandmother & the effects of that power on herself & others. It fed my love of reading & Duncan. A few years ago I bought & reread many of her YA books. I revisited my Lois Duncan box & my childhood last month after her death.📚💕 #booknerd #nostalgia #collection #favorite

elkeOriginal Love this photo and your Lois Duncan box 💕 7y
