Starting book #2 between book club reads! Our group meets on Thursday and I can‘t wait that long to read something new.

Also trying to cram in as much reading as I can now (I have a 2 year old and am 8 months pregnant!)

Pictured is another one of babies: Pippin😻

Two couples arrive at a marriage counseling retreat led by a celebrity therapist couple, but it soon seems clear there‘s more going on with said couple than we knew. This is a slow burn that only truly gets thrillery near the end, and contains a seriously disturbing depiction of an abuser. Content warning as well for death of a child.

Don't let the serene, bright, sunny cover fool you! This story is tumultuous and dark, just like the storm clouds brewing in the distance. The writing gave me a creepy, unsettling vibe and the constant feeling of an ax about to drop. A totally engrossing, compulsive page turner by the talented Canadian author. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #netgalley #goodreads #seasonalreadingchallenge #damselindistress

#BFC week #4 went well. I surpassed my step goal by a 1, 878 and I finished 2 books. I've also haf some success with practicing mindfulness. I'm working on incorporating a full body scan at least once or twice a day to try and work on recognizing the tense spots. Wishing everyone a fun and positive week 5. #BFCr2 #feelingcontent #bookfitnesschallenge #everylittlebithelps

Week 2 check in another goal is to get a journal and start yoga!
Step goal met except the 2 days of major earthquakes I did make up earlier in week so they balance out. My reading goal is okay I need to step up my audio I am behind in that goal. I stopped worry about my weight and going with how I feel. I hope everyone is doing well!!

britt_brooke Nice work! I like your added goals. Hope is all okay near you after the earthquakes? 5y

Appropriately paced with an interesting multiple POV perspective. There‘s enough intrigue to keep the reader vested and the premise and setting were also interesting. She employs some interesting tactics to move the plot—TMZ news releases, a dialogue between "him" and "her" and alternating between past and present. With themes of loss, love and an exploration into relationships and what it takes to make them work, Stapley has come into her own.
