As she struggles to keep her dark secrets concealed in the face of increasing scrutiny, Polly finds herself in a life-changing friendship with a young Shaker sister named Charity, a girl who will stake everything--even her faith--on Polly's honesty and purity.

A very different, excellent story. Polly, who is haunted by her past, is taken against her will to a Shaker community. Her secrets, the mystery of her mother, and descriptions of Shaker life are fascinating. Told from three perspectives, the different voices added to the depth of the story. Interesting twists at the end. A strong 4⭐️

Hubby raved about this book when he read it last summer. I think it‘s time I gave it a try.

We went to Barnes & Noble looking for a dinosaur book for our grandson, and maybe another science-related book. We found both, but hubby also grabbed the tagged book. With all the books that have been added to #MountTBR from recent swaps, I resisted temptation (but it wasn‘t easy😂)
