Passion on Park Avenue | Lauren Layne
23 posts | 25 read | 9 to read
From the author of the New York Times bestselling Stiletto and Oxford series, Passion on Park Avenue is the first in a charming new series following the unlikely friendship of three Upper East Side women as they struggle to achieve their dreams and find true love and happiness in the city that never sleeps. They vowed to steer clear of Manhattan's heartbreakers - but when it comes to love, some risks are worth taking... For as long as she can remember, Bronx-born Naomi Powell has had one goal: to prove her worth among the Upper East Side elite. Now, as the strongminded, sassy CEO of one of the biggest jewellery empires in the country, Naomi finally has exactly what she wants - but it's going to take more than just the right address to make Manhattan's upper class accept her. The worst offender is her new neighbour, Oliver Cunningham - the grown son of the family Naomi's mother worked for as a housekeeper. Oliver used to torment Naomi when they were children, and as a ridiculously attractive adult, he's tormenting her in entirely different ways. Let this sexy battle-of-wills commence... Filled with charm and heart and plenty of heart and wit, this entertaining series will hook you from the very first page. Look out for the next two titles, Love on Lexington Avenue and Marriage of Madison Avenue. Want more fun, fresh, flirty and very sexy rom-com? Check out Lauren's Oxford series and don't miss her warm, witty and sexy Wedding Belles series and the I Do, I Don't series, as well as the romantic standalones in the Love, Unexpectedly series.

This is my Nov. #BookSpin and has been on my TBR ever since I read two other books by Layne. Naomi, a young, wealthy entrepreneur, is out for revenge against the family who tossed her and her mom (their housekeeper/his mistress) out like trash when she was 9. But reconnecting after 20 years, she realizes that maybe they‘ve all changed, especially the boy who used to torment her. Layne‘s trademark humor is infectious, and other than some 🔻

robinb frustrations with Naomi‘s sometimes wishy-washiness and Oliver‘s occasional smugness, I enjoyed this one as well. (TW: Alzheimer‘s) 4/5⭐️ 2y
TheAromaofBooks I really enjoyed this whole series when I read it last year. Actually, this was my least favorite of the three because I found Naomi really annoying haha 2y
robinb @TheAromaofBooks LOL. I think you and I think a lot alike. :) Yes, I would say that I enjoyed the previous books more than this one, but they weren't in this series. I'd like to read the other two in this one too. 2y

This was a lot more fun than I was expecting and was a super quick read, which was perfect for the girl who needed something to focus on while trying to get her phone fixed. Can't wait for book 2!

While Naomi was a bit too abrasive for me at times (a friend who reviewed this said Naomi felt like the annoying friend who you don't like until you get her back story in the second book haha), Oliver was adorable & I totally shipped them. There wasn't anything outstanding about this one for me, but it was fun & fluffy & a great balance for the gritty mysteries I'm also reading!! It also checked off a square for #BookSpinBingo. ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks As of last night I've read 334 pages for #OutstandingOctober which puts me 66 pages behind my goal. I may or may not still be suffering from an addiction to playing Red Dead Redemption 2 😂 @Andrew65

This week looks super busy at work, but next week we are taking a fake vacation. We talked about renting a cabin but honestly we love our little house so much, it's just that there is always so much work to do!! So next weekend we are only ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) going to do things we would do if we were staying in a cabin in the woods somewhere - i.e. read books, drink hot chocolate, play games, & take naps. I'm stoked!! 4y
Clare-Dragonfly That sounds like a great fake vacation! I totally understand that—I love my house too. 4y

TheAromaofBooks @Clare-Dragonfly - We've been fixing it up since we moved in six years ago, and now we have all these cozy places for reading & hanging out but never sit in them! So we are going to sit in them with a vengeance this weekend! 😂 4y

#WeeklyForecast - finish the tagged book as well as Eight Black Horses and Pride & Prejudice. I am also working my way through Complete Home Landscaping - gardening books are my comfort reads! 😂 Then I will continue down the row! This upcoming week promises to be the busiest of the apple season so far, so I am not anticipating much reading time, although I am going to try & hit my #OutstandingOctober goal of 200pg/day!

@Cinfhen @Andrew65

Andrew65 Some great choices. Ed McBain reminds me of my youth! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 - I'm not sure why I started reading this series, but I've been working through it slowly since April 2019! I read usually five books & then go on to something else for a while as they do get a bit same-y read in a row. Eight Black Horses has the Deaf Man as the villain again - he's my favorite! 4y
Cinfhen I love that you‘re still in ‘Apple Season” 🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏 4y

I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. This is the first in a trilogy and I definitely plan on reading the rest of the books, as well as other books from the author. I just loved it so much! I decided to read it to give me a break from the deep mysteries and thrillers I have read lately and it turned out to be a quick easy read that I loved! I didn‘t want it to end but I couldn‘t help but keep reading! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

A sweet beginning to a romance series that begins with 3 women creating a pact to support each other and watch out for the others‘ love lives so they don‘t fall for another cheater.

It was good but not my favorite LL. I liked the setup of the friend trio. I liked both Naomi and Oliver. I liked how Oliver‘s father‘s Alzheimer‘s played a huge part in his life. The banter was still on point. But the relationship progress was slow and involved A LOT of waffling on both sides. It made the inevitable finale seem kind of rushed. Also, despite the title, while there was certainly chemistry it was surprisingly light on passion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Quick read! Fun, light, great kick off to a long weekend of resting, reading, and prepping for dropping my daughter off at college. And yes, those are puppy paws, Max is sleeping at my feet.

I urge you guys to pick this book up if you love contemporary romance, love friendship, love a slow-building second-chance intimate romance!

This is about a new trio who meet/become friends at the funeral of the guy they have all been dating at the same time! As for the romance, let me tell you, it's so sweet and full of intimacy!

This story is full of witty banter and steamy chemistry between the leads but its also not the usual lighthearted romantic comedy that Ms. Layne is known for. In fact, this one has a more serious tone, most reminiscent of her New Adult romances, which resulted in a bittersweet and poignant romance between two people who appear the opposite of each other but definitely is made for one another.

Cute and fun with a touch of angst. Interesting premise and good use of the enemies-to-lovers trope. I liked Layne‘s 21 Wall Street Series better, but this was still a quick, easy read that had you turning pages and escaping for a few hours.

I love the unique and imaginative way we are introduced to Naomi and the two women who become significant in her life and captures the essence of friendship. Tragic and hilarious how these women became acquainted due to a link none of them knew about before their chance meeting in Central Park. Retaining all the elements I love about Ms Layne's writing. Besides the slow burn romance brewing between the protagonists, there's a powerful message.

Kaylamburson I really want to read this one! Welcome back to Litsy!!!! 5y
Ellesea @Kaylamburson It's definitely one of Lauren Layne's best novels and I'm looking forward to reading the other books in this series as they are published. 5y
Kaylamburson Ohhh, that's good to hear!! Can the books function as standalones or is it really a typical series? 5y

I'm slowly easing my way back into contemporary romance, and this was amazing! It's just that right amount of subtle steaminess! I adore hate-to-love slow-burn, and I was screaming when they finally kissed!
