For fans of Diana Gabaldon, Amanda Quick and Nalini Singh comes the Darkest London series. In Victorian London, magic lurks in every shadowy corner . . . 'Callihan has a great talent for sexual tension and jaw-dropping plots' - Diana Gabaldon 'A sizzling paranormal with dark history and explosive magic! Callihan is an impressive new talent' - Larissa Ione London, 1881 Once the flames are ignited . . . Miranda Ellis is a woman tormented. Plagued since birth by a strange and powerful gift, she has spent her entire life struggling to control her exceptional abilities. Yet one innocent but irreversible mistake has left her family's fortune decimated and forced her to wed London's most nefarious nobleman. They will burn for eternity . . . Lord Benjamin Archer is no ordinary man. Doomed to hide his disfigured face behind masks, Archer knows it's selfish to take Miranda as his bride. Yet he can't help being drawn to the flame-haired beauty whose touch sparks a passion he hasn't felt in a lifetime. When Archer is accused of a series of gruesome murders, he gives in to the beastly nature he has fought so hard to hide from the world. But the curse that haunts him cannot be denied. Now, to save his soul, Miranda will enter a world of dark magic and darker intrigue. For only she can see the man hiding behind the mask. 'Evocative and deeply romantic, Firelight was fascinating from the very first page' - Nalini Singh 'Callihan has a great talent for sexual tension and jaw-dropping plots' - Diana Gabaldon 'A sizzling paranormal with dark history and explosive magic! Callihan is an impressive new talent' - Larissa Ione 'Debut author Callihan pens a compelling Victorian paranormal with heart and soul' - Publishers Weekly 'A taut tale filled with sexual tension. Years ago a friend recommended this book to me. Just now digging it out of my massive #TBR pile and enjoyed every minute. Kicking myself for not reading it sooner 🙃 #Fiction #Romance #Paranormal #ParanormalRomance #HistoricalFiction

The first book in the wonderful Darkest London series is on sale in ebook form. It's a beautiful mix of steampunk, paranormal, and historical romance.

CoverToCoverGirl Great series.. I‘ve read and listened to it. ❤️. Both ways are fantastic. 4y

Borrowed fr Wendy Darling: I would like to have seen a bit more of the supernatural elements as well as character development...I was never really as drawn in by the romance... Still, I *loved* the part when we finally find out the fascinating thing under Lord Archer's mask--if the story had concentrated more on that, which had so much potential, I would have been much more engaged...fingers crossed for the paranormal stuff to take center stage!“

This one has been on my radar for years but the timing was never right. Turns out it was the perfect read for Thanksgiving break. I‘ve read and enjoyed several of Callihan‘s contemporaries, though she can verge on too angsty for me, but I was curious how her style would translate to fantasy. I think I might enjoy her fantasy more! I would characterize this as urban historical fantasy (is that a thing?) and I‘m ready for more. #romantsy

MarriedtoMrT Also, which cover do you prefer? (New is inset.) I can‘t decide! The new one grabs me but the old one seems to fit the style more. 5y
mydearwatson I love the old cover! 5y
CoverToCoverGirl I loved this series and yes historical romance fantasy is what I‘d tag it as .. I prefer the original cover better! 5y

Bookcation74 I just finished this last night and loved it! Already downloaded (edited) 5y
samnreader Scrolling through your old posts. This series is far more nuanced and much stronger than her CR. It's a favorite! 5y
MarriedtoMrT @samnreader I‘m definitely hit or miss on her CR but looking forward to reading more from this series! 5y

Enjoyed this, but not totally enthralled with it. Involves magical abilities, demon curses and silvery, glowing skin (which made me think of Edward in the “Twilight” series). 🤷🏻‍♀️ Nice love story, and I especially liked the tough, take-charge heroine...who made me think of Buffy. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Do plan to continue on with this series. 4/5⭐️

ScientistSam I really like this series because the heroines are so capable. They don't need rescuing - they do the rescuing! 6y
robinb @ScientistSam Exactly! I‘m currently reading the second one and was going to mention that fact in my next review. It‘s so refreshing to read about women who not only take care of themselves but also save others. 👏👏👏👊👊💪💪 (edited) 6y
robinb @ScientistSam Have you read all of this series? I assumed that it ended after Poppy‘s story but now notice there are several more books? Are they all related? Worth reading? 6y
ScientistSam I've only read the first three, and enjoyed all of them. I haven't read the others yet but I think they're linked. 6y
robinb @ScientistSam I assume they are but just wondered if they were as good as the sisters‘ trilogy. Thanks. 6y

Was looking threw books on overdrive and this books cover and description caught my attention. I am so loving my kindle paper white it lets me read more ebooks then I used to. The kindle fire bothered my eyes and now I think I know why it‘s an health issue with my eyes but the paper white is better.

This book is a fantastic mix of historical fiction, paranormal romance, and mystery, with a bit of a Beauty and the Beast initial plot set-up.

Miranda marries a masked stranger as a series of murders shakes London. Is her new husband the murderer? And if not, what secrets is he hiding? And what is Miranda hiding herself?

In solving the mystery, Miranda not only saves herself, but others too.

I was a little lost at times, but for my first paranormal romance this was pretty good. Put the next one on hold at the library.

I realllly wanted to love this, having heard such awesome things about the series for years. I do think Callihan is a great writer, particularly when it comes to setting. I liked the romance--nice chemistry. But I felt the paranormal aspect and the overall storytelling was clunky and unbalanced, with too much being dumped in the back half.

Just so good! Great story, the mix of PNR and historical was done beautifully and I loved both Ben and Miranda.

The sexual tension, paranormal mystery, and sexual tension is enough to keep you wanting more. Kristen Callihan has a way with words that I haven't come across in a long time. 👓👓👓👓👓

Loved it!! First book I read with this blend of historical and paranormal. Ms. Callihan killed me with the tension...good thing i read fast or it would have been cold showers for me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
