El señor presidente
El señor presidente | Miguel Angel Asturias
15 posts | 8 read | 1 reading | 6 to read

Mehso-so

I came across this author and book looking for books written by Guatemalan authors for #Guatemala #foodandlit. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1967 so I thought the library would have books by him. In was the blurb to this book, originally written in 1946, that pulled me in. The blurbs says it was a satire about a ruthless dictator. I never pick it satire but it‘s definitely about a dictator and people around him and the people that is

AnneCecilie wrongly put in jail because of his policies. For me something was missing, maybe it was too many people to follow in such a thin book. 3y

I was thinking that I can use Litsy to let you know a little bit more about Latin American authors who have been translated into English. Miguel Ángel Asturias is the only Centroamerican writer to have won the Nobel. The President is a portrait of the typical dictator in the region.
