Set in the Gulf Stream off the coast of Havana, Hemingway's magnificent fable is the story of an old man, a young boy and a giant fish. In a perfectly crafted story, which won for Hemingway the Nobel Prize for Literature, is a unique and timeless vision of the beauty and grief of man's challenge to the elements in which he lives.

First thing I did when I woke up this morning - reading time and checking my plant watering-log. I haven't read The Old Man and the Sea in years, but I'm enjoying it so far. 💙📖🌱

Pickpick

I read this book in January 2017:
This is a small novella but it packs a big punch! I love Hemingway's style of writing and his message is a good one. Be persistent in what you pursue and you will eventually achieve that goal. Great story!

#shortestclassicyouread #litsyclassics

Maybe not the shortest, but not that long with 127 pages. I borrowed it from the library when I was a teenager (no idea why). It's the only book by Hemingway I have read. I enjoyed it, although I'm not sure I understood it. Who knows what I would read into it now, 20 years down the road.

ValerieAndBooks Great picture! Yes, I want to re-read to see what I would think of it now! 2y
PickwickPlockPlock @ValerieAndBooks Although there's the risk that you end up thinking 'why on earth did I ever like that?!' after such a long time. 2y
