The Big Bad Wolf
The Big Bad Wolf | James Patterson
Alex Cross's first case since joining the FBI has his new colleagues stymied. Across the country, beautiful women are being kidnapped-to be bought and sold as slaves. Behind this depraved scheme stands a shadowy figure known only as The Wolf, a master criminal who has brought a new reign of terror to organized crime. With Alex's personal life in chaos because of his ex-fiance's return and with the FBI's caution testing his patience, Alex has to go out on his own. For to stalk a ruthless predator without a name or a face, Alex Cross must become a lone wolf himself...

Mehso-so

I feel like this book was kind of flat compared to the previous Alex Cross books. Alex is having to start his new position with the FBI and he is struggling to find where his place is.

The best book hunters scour the stacks while everyone else is asleep. Because sleep is for the weak. Big Bad Wolf the Midnight-to-Dawn Edition (1 am - 6 am). Overnight bus trip to KL for this 24-hour book fair and returning back home to Singapore this morning. No sleep for books!

AmyG Whoa that's quite the book haul. 👍🏻 6y
GatheringBooks @AmyG the prices for these brand new titles are ridiculously cheap. audrey niffenegger‘s rare edition of her fearful symmetry which costs around 100 sgd in book depository is worth 5 dollars here. 6y

Smarkies You got a whole lot! I found the selection of fiction not so good this year. 6y

My first Patterson book has turned out to be a disappointing introduction. Maybe I shouldn't have started mid-series but I found Cross to be a forgettable protagonist. I didn't dislike him, just found him rather too nice. The villain, the Wolf, was interesting. But while the first 200 pages built the story nicely, the last 100 didn't deliver a satisfactory or entertaining enough ending. However I will give Patterson another try at some point.

A colleague gave me this the other month. Not sure if it'll be my thing but I'm giving it a go. Never read any of Patterson's work before. And I know the old cliché of not judging a book by its cover but the cover looks awful! Hopefully the book itself won't be.

ephemeralwaltz It does look awful! 😂 I can vouch for Patterson though, he's pretty good, imo from what I've read. 7y
myers85 @ephemeralwaltz I'm a few chapters in now and I think it could be a fun read. Three page chapters make it very easy to say "I'll just read one more chapter!" 7y

This was the first book i read by James Patterson. The one that beging my love and honestly obsession with his work. I had to own anybook written by him. I have a pretty big collection of his boom and out of all his Alex Cross series still my most loved one but this book still my favorite of all.

I have to say I was disappointed and pretty ticked with this installment of the series. Alex leaves the Washington PD for imaginary work life balance with the FBI. Which is basically insane since all his previous cases were made worse by FBI involvement. Christine is back for little Alex and her character was completely ruin for no apparent reason other to let Alex have his uptenth love interest. Hoping the installment will be better.

myers85 I've just finished this and searched Litsy for other people's opinions. I agree with you, I'm not a fan of this book either. First Patterson book I've read, not a good introduction! 7y
Liatrek @myers85 No not a good intro 😔 Unfortunately this is the second series of his that started great and let me down later. 7y
