Charlie St. Cloud
Charlie St. Cloud: A Novel | Ben Sherwood
14 posts | 69 read | 15 to read
In a snug New England fishing village, Charlie St. Cloud tends the lawns and monuments of an ancient cemetery where his younger brother, Sam, is buried. After surviving the car accident that claimed his brother's life, Charlie is graced with an extraordinary gift: He can see, talk to, and even play catch with Sam's spirit. Into this magical world comes Tess Carroll, a captivating woman training for a solo sailing trip around the globe. Fate steers her boat into a treacherous storm that propels her into Charlie's life. Their beautiful and uncommon connection leads to a race against time and a choice between death and life, between the past and the future, between holding on and letting go and the discovery that miracles can happen if we simply open our hearts.

Believe me; I know we all cling to life and its certainties. It‘s not easy in these cynical times to cast off the hardness and edge that get us through our day. But try just a little.

It was a nice, well written story that has similarities with "Ghost" and "City of Angels". It has a lot of unexpected twists. The book is sad and happy at the same time. So if you like a story about 2nd chances and miracles you might enjoy this one.

One of the times where I don't mind the movie cover. I love the bottom image of a northern coastal setting with #Sunshine radiating across the water. #MayBookFlowers @RealLifeReading

I can't imagine any ending that would satisfy me, but I'm enjoying the journey.

Pickpick

I've seen the movie twice and never read the book. I'm so glad I added it to my list of reads, it was so good! If you're looking for a pleasant, interesting book, definitely choose this one! I loved the imagery and explanations of the "after life". And I can't wait to visit his website to view the "extras".
