Loves Music, Loves To Dance | Mary Higgins Clark
15 posts | 41 read | 2 to read
Erin and Darcy, answering personal ads as research for a TV show, discover a whole new New York sub-culture - adulterers, con men, the shy and frankly weird, all looking for love. And one man looking for something darker . . . A serial killer who has just got away with murder for fifteen years, and has promised himself just two more . . .

In honor of the late queen of suspense, I reread the first suspense book I ever read which is still one of my favorites.
Darcy and her friend Erin decide to help their friend Nona make a documentary by answering personal ads (oh the days before tinder). Unbeknownst to them, a serial killer is out there hunting in those same ads. When Erin goes missing, Darcy and Nona team up with the FBI to catch a killer.

This #bookclub selection has been pushed to May‘s meeting (at least) thanks to #socialdistancing so I hope I remember enough of it by then! #shoesonthecover #magnificentmarch

1. Finish library books currently checked out so I can take just books from my shelves to #readingretreat2020
2. Tagged book had several minor characters, and I realized about halfway through that I should have been taking notes on who was who. I never think of that ahead of time...

Mary Higgins Clark passed away 🙁 She is one of the first suspense authors I read and definitely contributed to my love of the genre! ♥️

A killer is using the personal ads to lure his victims. Erin Kelley and Darcy Scott help their TV producer friend research the kinds of people who place personal ads but Erin soon disappears. This is a well written story which is told by the murderer's perspective. The suspense keeps the pages turning and the plot keeps you guessing until the very surprising twist at the end.

EadieB I enjoy Mary Higgins Clark's books and I read this one for my Century of Mystery reads as it was published in 1991. I look forward to reading another Clark book and would recommend this one to those who love mystery. 4y

First, let me just say I freaking LOVE Mary Higgins Clark. As a kid, I went through and crime, thriller and mystery phase. I was obsessed with it all.

Anyway, this book was phenomenal! I was so blown away with MHC! I loved the suspense, the characters, the way she has so many suspects and everyone has a possible motive. Just fantastic!

#12DaysofChristmas #9LadiesDancing Darcy Scott is a talk show producer whose friend disappears helping with a show on dating using personal ads & Darcy gets on the radar of "the dancing shoe killer."?I don't think he got to 9 ladies-but the book came out in 1991 (+a cheesy TV movie in 2001). This is the second day in a row that I've picked mystery thrillers with serial killers for this challenge. Not sure what that says about my holiday spirit!?

Amie This was the first Mary Higgins Clark book that I read when I was a teenager, so I am fond of this one 😊 6y

#LyricalApril #TinyDancer Thanks to the Friends episode where Phoebe says that the most romantic song is "that one that Elton John wrote for that guy on Who's the Boss?"--I still can't hear Tiny Dancer without hearing "Hold me close, young Tony Danza." (Here's a video clip: https://youtu.be/MMAeNv-Lpj4) Thanks to @Cinfhen it's back in my head today. ? Oh, and here are 4 books that I've read where dance is involved...

Mehso-so

I loved this book in the mid to late 90s. Reading again, I found it predictable and dated. Obviously, huh? It was funny to read about dating through personal ads, so many men who happened to drive station wagons, and the outfit descriptions. Nostalgia at its finest.

Slightly rainy, cool morning perfected with mint tea and a book. Why isn't every July day like this?

MrBook Niiiice! Great photo! My morning was hot and muggy 😕. 8y

Rereading a favorite from high school for my reading challenge and watching my favorite Cubbies in the All-Star game. Baseball is my favorite because it's slow and I can read and watch at the same time.
