Darryl is on a quest for peace. His chance at fatherhood was taken from him long ago, and an IED in Iraq ensured hed never get another. In Big Falls, the McIntyre brothers hire him to keep an eye on their beautiful cousin Sophie in case her criminal ex shows up. He doesnt expect to fall head over heels. Sophie McIntyres life was blown apart by a drug dealing ex who cost her her job and nearly her medical license. She comes to Big Falls because she has nowhere else to go. And the minute she gets there, things start to get better. Is it because of that letter to Santa her Aunt Vidalia convinced her to write? Within days she meets a beautiful man with a deeply wounded soul. And oddly, she finds herself giving him the same advice the town Santa gave to hertry believing again, and if its too much to believe, then just try hoping. Love, magic, and miracles ensue. Because this is Big Falls, Oklahoma. Miracles are an everyday occurrence around here. Especially at Christmastime. BELIEVE AGAIN with MAGGIE SHAYNE An expanded authors cut edition of the story previously published in Buckles, Boots and Mistletoe.

Saccharine sweet g-rated romance with an even sweeter twist at the end. Surprisingly well written. I thought romances would be universally poorly written and I am wrong! So I fess up to romance book lovers, I liked it for a quick light read.

coffees 21pts! Wow that was fast :00 I feel the same about adult romance books too xD glad to see it was good 👌 4y
StayCurious Come on guys - never judge other genres - it all depends on the writer! Some of my fave books are romances❤️❤️ 4y
Texreader @StayCurious One of my favorite writers started out as a romance writer, Elizabeth Chadwick. And her historical fiction has a lot of romance. 😊 4y

And this... my fellow Littens...is why I don‘t read romance.

Now if the romance involved the nerdy type reading a good 📖 maybe I‘d be totally into it! 😘

coffees I like my guys not built like that 😂😂 4y
Mamashep Exactly! 4y
cathysaid 🙋‍♀️ Despise romance! Books and movies. Just. Don‘t. Get. It. 4y

Free on Amazon, I‘m starting a whole new genre just for #wintergames, since all the free books about Christmas seem to be in the romance section. Well, here goes!

SaturnDoo Yeah, I noticed that too 😕 I think a trip to the library is in order. I can't stomach that many romances anymore 😂 4y
Texreader @SaturnDoo Great idea! 4y
TheSpineView I downloaded two free books from Amazon. I plan on using my KU a lot this December. 4y

#joinin I will see my family Christmas Eve but the husband works and sleeps on Christmas Day so it will just be the dogs and myself but I will be here for anyone who wants to talk or chat. Hoping the doggies will keep me happy and humming but this Christmas has been very stressful. Lots of unresolved family drama. 😓 Thanks @4thhouseontheleft for this!

alisiakae @Bookgoil I can relate to family drama. ☺️ My hubby also works Xmas Day, he‘s Jewish, and usually volunteers to take call on Christmas so he can get NYE and New Year‘s Day off! (edited) 5y
dariazeoli Boo to family drama! 5y
Reecaspieces Isn‘t that what family is for...drama 😳🙄. 5y

ColleenIsReading This is a great idea! I just found Litsy and will be exploring further, but will definitely plan to check in with this tag! My wife and her girlfriend left on vacation yesterday and I‘m actually just fine with that as they are taking both their moms with them and I was actually grateful to have a graceful out, as I am already scheduled to dogsit here in town from the 25th-31st. And happy to have plenty of time to putter and read... (edited) 5y
ColleenIsReading But a wee bit worried about getting lonely after a few days, especially between now and when the dogsit starts. I do have lots of reading/writing/Librivox recording/movie/binge watching plans to keep me busy! But will be checking in here with the others flying solo through the holidays. 5y
Bookgoil @ColleenIsReading aw well something to look forward to! That sounds like a fun trip! I‘ve left my spouse behind on trips before and he doesn‘t mind - he‘s a bit antisocial. 5y
Bookgoil @4thhouseontheleft yes mine took a bunch of days after Christmas so he only works NYE and I think January 5th and then he‘s off all other days til Jan 13. So we‘ll have plenty of time together. I‘m off until January 9th 5y
Bookgoil @dariazeoli @Reecaspieces Yes but boo to the drama. 😓 5y
iread2much Me too! What does your husband do? This year my husband is working day shifts for Christmas, Christmas Eve, and new year eve/day, so it‘s a lot of holidays without him. Even though neither of us celebrate Christmas, it‘s still sad to be by myself on a day when so many are with family. 5y
Bookgoil @iread2much he‘s a correctional officer with the sheriff‘s department- we always plan Christmas another day to help but he gets Thanksgiving off most years which is his favorite holiday lol 5y
iread2much @Bookgoil ah, that does take crazy days and hours. We live very close to a prison and a military base, so many of us in my area are used to having spouses who work holidays. This is the first year in a while where my husband has worked every major holiday, but if happened about every three years. Thanksgiving is also my favorite holiday! Less stress and all the food... 5y
Nute Thinking of you during the holidays. May peace and harmony envelope you!❤️ 5y

Short and sweet and a much better Christmas read than the one I tried to read earlier.

This is much better than the last one I tried! Thing 2 is making dinner and my nieces orchestra concert has been cancelled because of snow so I‘m going to enjoy reading by the tree tonight!
