Finished my November #bookspin last night. This is #8 in The Hollows series. The first half is slower than I remember, but necessary to set up the big action & choices Rachel makes at the end, which in turn sets up where the series goes from here. I took my previous rating from 5 to 4⭐️ after this reread.

Read 9 books counting this one. Mostly romance - I needed some HEAs this month. No bingos, but I did finish both my #bookspin and #doublespin.

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! Great month!!! 7mo

I fell asleep early last night, so I'm playing catch up on #QuotsyAug21

For Day 4 - I always got a kick on the perspective of a somewhat prudish 100+ year old ghost on the life of a modern #single woman.

There is never a dull moment. Some members of Rachel‘s team will take a back step, but this allows for a fresh mix of conflict and tension. Past and present characters will collide to force Rachel to make decisions on who to trust in the blink of an eye. This series has the perfect blend of action, romance, and humor to keep me reading. #urbanfantasy

I wish Litsy had video to share this. He went and grabbed one of my books off the shelf, and is telling me the #MostEpicStory, based on the #coverart! This is the third one in a row; he seems partial to the art on the Hollows books. #RaisingReaders #storyteller #MaybeAlsoAWriter

Another #TBT 4 years ago I was burning through this great Kim Harrison series set in an alternative reality where vampires are out of the closet so to speak and are part of society, along with witches, demons, weres, and pixies. Jenks is awesome, just FYI!
**Odd coincidence for today: I stopped by Goodwill today and found a hard cover first edition of this exact book and brought it home for my collection. Serendipity? I say yes! #BookWin

Chessa This is one of my fave series ever! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Chessa I agree, It was very good! If you liked this series have you tried Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews...similarly strong female character with a great supporting crew that grows through the books and storyline. 6y
Chessa I haven't read Andrews - I think maybe my mom tried it (she loves The Hollows, too) and waved me off for some reason? Our book tastes don't 100% overlap though, so I might have to give it a try at some point! I always think of The Hollows and Patricia Briggs's Mercy Thompson series together, for some reason - do you read that one? I really liked the early books but for some reason the last 2-3 have been meh for me. 6y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Chessa Yes! I read that one too! I've enjoyed Mercy too because she's very independent and the characters grow throughout. Do you read the side series for that one....Alpha & Omega with Charles and Anna set with Brun's pack for the most part, some of the fae trouble falling into Mercy's world starts in their books. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Chessa I actually like Kate Daniels more than Mercy or The Hollows. It has some very unique world building, a totally different take on vampires than I've ever seen anywhere else, and she includes creatures from a lot of other mythologies which I enjoy and really works with the world they've created. 6y
Chessa Cool, I'll definitely give Kate Daniels a try then! Sound super fun and I haven't been doing a lot of paranormal stuff lately! 6y
Chessa Oh and yes, I've been reading both Alpha and Omega series and Mercy - both good! I love spinoffs. :) 6y
