The Whispering Room
The Whispering Room: A Jane Hawk Novel | Dean Koontz
Jane Hawkfictions most relentless, resourceful, stunning new heroinecontinues her battle against a murderous conspiracy in the riveting sequel to The Silent Corner. No time to delay. Do what you were born to do. Fame will be yours when you do this. These are the words that ring in the mind of mild-mannered, beloved schoolteacher Cora Gundersunjust before she takes her own life, and many others, in a shocking act of carnage. When the disturbing contents of her secret journal are discovered, it seems certain that she must have been insane. But Jane Hawk knows better. In the wake of her husbands inexplicable suicideand the equally mysterious deaths of scores of other exemplary individualsJane picks up the trail of a secret cabal of powerful players who think themselves above the law and beyond punishment. But the ruthless people bent on hijacking Americas future for their own monstrous ends never banked on a highly trained FBI agent willing to go rogueand become the nations most wanted fugitivein order to derail their insidious plans to gain absolute power with a terrifying technological breakthrough. Driven by love for her lost husband and by fear for the five-year-old son she has sent into hiding, Jane Hawk has become an unstoppable predator. Those she is hunting will have nowhere to run when her shadow falls across them. Acclaim for Dean Koontzs previous Jane Hawk novel, The Silent Corner Gripping . . . The paranoia and mystery increase as the story unfolds. . . . Koontz has created [a] wonderful character in Jane Hawk. . . . Koontz rocks it again.Associated Press In this era of stingy text-message prose, Mr. Koontz is practically Shakespeare. . . . I didn‘t want to put this book down! I couldn‘t wait to see what barrier Jane Hawk was going to face next and how she was going to navigate it. For an FBI agent gone fugitive trying to be invisible, Jane met some wonderful people on her journey. Jane Hawk is a seriously tough woman who is determined to find the people responsible for altering her life.

I started listening to this book tonight on Scribd. I have to review this book for Bookish First because I won a physical ARC of this book but I‘ve decided to listen to it on audio. So far, I‘m liking this book better than the first one. I want to keep listening. If I decide to continue this series, there are 3 more books to read after this one.

We continue to follow Jane Hawk in her fight to expose the conspiracy responsible for the death of her husband Nick and many others thought to be capable of shaping the world to come. Trust me, you want Jane on your side when it hits the fan.

The conspiracy is chilling... but possible?

Classic DK. Conspiracy involving people in high level government positions and very wealthy people of power.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☄

Beginning book number 31 of my year...this one I honestly don‘t think I‘ve read a Koontz with the character before so hopefully it doesn‘t matter.

Caffeinated_Reader Well thanks to an unbearable long wait at the DMV today I was able to finish this creepy book. First of all the whole idea of being mind controlled, brainwashed, or robotized is pure horrendous to me. I feel like it‘s a likely scenario for us earthlings but maybe not for like 20 years. Idk it‘s creepy to think about which made this a great creepy must read! 6y

I‘m so I have not read the first book do I need to in order to read this one. I got an arc of this a while back and I am now just getting to it. Should I get the first one and read it.?

A good addition to the series that I liked slightly more than the first, largely due to the characters. It would benefit from more development of Jane, maybe through flashbacks of her and Nick. #aroundtheyearin52books

Annl I agree about the character development! 6y

Love thrillers and this sequel to The Silent Corner brings everything: great plot, current ideas, action and a smart, former FBI agent forced to go rogue, Jane Hawk. A page turner that I couldn‘t put down!

Finally finished typing up a review for this one to post on Goodreads and my blog. While the first in the series was more engaging, this was still a well-written and suspenseful read. I wanted to enjoy it as much as The Silent Corner, but it was a little slower and I think that was it's Achilles heel.

I can‘t stay calm and read on... the next book isn‘t out yet 😬!! Book one was a bit slow to start, but kept building in old school Koontz style and by the end I had to immediately jump into this one! This was faster paced, and I read it in just a few days. But now I want more! What happens next?! I don‘t want to wait till May to find out!

Annl Wow you finished the 2nd one already? 6y
Cupofjo @Annl I literally started this the same night I finished book one! 6y

This is the second book in Koontz‘ Jane Hawk series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, The Silent Corner, and this installment was just as good, maybe better. In The Whispering Room, Jane Hawk is on the run as she continues her relentless pursuit of those who are manipulating unlikely people into committing suicide. A real page-turner. Eagerly awaiting the third installment.

4.5/5 🌟 review for me. I love Jane Hawk, my complete girl crush and reigning bad ass of action books! The saga and mystery continues in this follow up. Not as shocking and the story doesn‘t advance as much as the 1st book, but i was riveted!

This follow up to The Silent Corner opens up immediately after the first book‘s conclusion and keeps a pretty steady and exciting pace! Jane, and the new characters introduced along the way, are easy to like (and in some cases, hate!). I‘m interested to see where the next book will go, considering this ending!!

MorbidAi I just finished Odd Thomas and really love his writing style! I can't wait to read more of his work. 7y
DarcysMom @MorbidAi The Odd Thomas books scared the heck out of me! 😁 Fortunately, for me, the Jane Hawk books are more suspense than horror. 7y
MorbidAi I am with you 100% My boyfriend showed me the movie before I knew about the book, and even after knowing about the main things, the book did a much better job being scary. 😂 I'll have to check out the Jane Hawk ones, it's the season for suspense! 7y
