Since its premiere in November 1963, the classic British television program Doctor Who has been a cornerstone of popular culture for half a century. From the earliest Exterminate! to the recent Allons-y!, from the white-haired grandfather to the wide-grinned youth, the show has depicted the adventures of a time-traveling, dual-hearted, quick-witted, and multi-faced hero as he battles Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, and all manner of nasties. And, like its main character, who can regenerate his body and change his appearance, Doctor Who fandom has developed and changed significantly in the fifty years since its inception. In this engaging and insightful collection, fans and scholars from around the globe explore fan fiction, fan videos, and fan knitting, as well as the creation of new languages. As multifaceted as the character himself, Doctor Who fans come in many forms, and this book investigates thoroughly the multitude of fandoms, fan works, and fan discussions about this always-surprising and energetic program. Featuring full color images of fan work and discussions of both classic and New Who fandom, this book takes reader on a journey of discovery into one of the largest worldwide fan audiences that has ever existed. Thoughtful, insightful, and readable, this is one of only a fewand certainly one of the bestguides to Doctor Who fan culture and is certain to appeal to the show's many ardent fans across the globe.

The story is really ….

Doctor Who: 1963: The Space Race.

Big Finish monthly range number 179.

I love the 6th Doctor with Peri. They crack me up.

The Big Finish stories with historical plots are always worth a smile & here we have the Doctor & Peri in 1963.

The space race, moon base, Cold War, nukes, aliens, President Kennedy, talking homicidal dog …

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

jenniferw88 @Texreader @Annl I'm a big Peter Capaldi fan! 7y
Annl @jenniferw88 I try not to think in absolutes, so always have a problem with favorite. That said, I only started watching Dr Who at David Tennant. But, I think Matt Smith has a little more of my heart💙! 7y
Susannah Totally agree about Matt Smith, @Annl. Also, I was a huge David Tennant fan when his episodes were first airing, but in retrospect I think Matt Smith holds up better. David Tennant is kind of shouty. 🙄 7y
jenniferw88 @annl oops, sorry I forgot you said that in your first email! Ok, thanks for commenting! 😆 7y
jenniferw88 @Annl my favourite is Peter Capaldi! 7y
