“There he got out the luncheon-basket and packed a simple meal, in which, remembering the stranger's origin and preferences, he took care to include a yard of long French bread, a sausage out of which the garlic sang, some cheese which lay down and cried, and a long-necked straw-covered flask wherein lay bottled sunshine shed and garnered on far Southern slopes.”

I thought this was a lovely little whimsical story. I adored the descriptions of the simple lives of all the little creatures. Maybe not the biggest fan of Mr. Toad… 😅
I‘m under the weather again, so my apologies for not having a more wordy review.
This was my #BookSpin for April.
This was a childhood favorite that I enjoyed revisiting as an audiobook. While I didn't love it as much as I did when I was young, it was still whimsical and fun. 💚
Still working my way through all my birthday cards from #litsylove, feeling incredibly loved!! Had to send a special ‘Thank you!‘ to @jenniferw88 for this gorgeous card, I absolutely love it!
At my favourite book shop in the world Barter Books with my baby girl Connie. Shes passed out asleep. Ive got two books for her and one for me 😊

Re-reading a much loved childhood book, an absolute joy to read at any age really! This is my second copy of the book, I could not resist the new V&A clothbound cover! #CoverLove 💚 #WindInTheWillows #KennethGrahame #Ratty #Mole #Toad #ChildrensClassic
Who better for today's challenge of #carpediem than Mr. Toad! Trouble is he usually seizes too much.
Me - I'm all for prevarication!

2.5⭐ Much of this story did not sit well with me. It romanticizes a life of boys will be boys and an aristocrat lifestyle where one doesn't have to work. I couldn't get into the story and the audio recording wasn't great. Not a book I'd recommend to children.

The Wind in the Willows was one of my childhood favorites. This is the Folio edition that I bought last year to pass on the love to my daughter. She's still a little too young for it but maybe next year.
"After all, the best part of a holiday is perhaps not so much to be resting yourself, as to see all the other fellows working." So true!
Just started this on Serial Reader. What a great way to read the classics, in little niblets each day!
Spring was moving in the air above and in the earth below and around him, penetrating even his dark and lowly little house with its spirit of divine discontent and longing.
There‘s nothing––absolutely nothing––half so much worth doing as messing about in boats.
