I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
This is day 23

Awww. I loved the premise and its originality but the story was a bit too light and I lost interest in the main character and her life. Another issue is when the author tries to pack too much info into one sentence and it ends up being a paragraph... it was not for me but I want to read her other book. The author has a lot of potential and should definitely be read!

LoveToReadLiveToRead I have a copy of this to read but haven‘t gotten to it yet but LOVED Versions of Us. 5y
Anna40 @LoveToReadLiveToRead I didn't hate Greatest Hits but it started off so strongly and then drifted off into a story that couldn't really hold my interest BUT I think Ms Barnett is definitely an author that deserves to be read and should be read and am very interested in Versions of Us. 5y

The album of songs is real - the memories that make up the story of the book and the songwriter are fiction. Love this idea. @Cathythoughts @TheSpineView @abbsinwonderland

Having seen the posts for #anglophileapril and lots of love for Daisy Jones & The Six I‘m on a mission to recommend the tagged book - I loved it so much. A fictional memoir of a British singer songwriter, with an accompanying album, please check it out, I‘d love to see it get some #litsylove 🎸❤️

JillR @JennyM yippee! Hope you enjoy it 😊 5y

This book was the perfect sunny read. Not as good as her debut but a good story anyway.

It is scorching here on the west coast 🌞 Spent today visiting the glorious Eilean Donnan castle and then reading in the sun. That dog isn't mine by the way, it just likes sitting outside my hut. And to prove it's Scotland the obligatory piper!! More adventures and reading tomorrow.

Bubbles and a book. Perfect way to start a 5 day weekend off. Tomorrow I shall be on a mini break in a wig wam, hopefully reading and relaxing in some unusual scottish sunny weather.

@Cinfhen @eanderson
One from the #TBR today... I read this author‘s debut novel and enjoyed it, and this one sounds totally my jam.... 🎵🎶

Cinfhen Author sounds familiar 🤔what else did she write?? 6y
KarenUK @cinfhen It is a ‘sliding doors‘ kind of story 6y
Cinfhen Yes! I haven‘t read it but that‘s the one I was thinking of 😘 6y
KateFulfordAuthor If you like laugh-out-loud dialogue, a fast & twisty plot + strong female narrative, may I recommend my debut novel to you? Links to reviews and more are in my bio. With thanks, Kate. 6y

I loved this so much. A fictional memoir of a singer/songwriter, the story starts in the present as Cass has to chose her favourite tracks from her back catalogue for a retrospective. Each chapter takes a track and follows her life at that time. A nice twist on the story of a life, this captures an era in British music and history, and is beautifully written. There is love, loss and lots and lots of music. I‘d so love it to get some Litsy Love 💕

JillR An accompanying album has been co-written by the author and recorded by Kathryn Williams, which I can‘t wait to get my hands on! 🎧 6y
Anna40 Started reading it today. Love it. You can listen to the first song on https://www.npr.org/2019/05/25/726733700/this-greatest-hits-album-is-real-its-ar... 5y

So far this is sooooo good. I can‘t put it down. Good job it‘s been a bizarrely hot day for April in the UK - I‘ve spent the whole day reading in the garden. There may have also been beer involved at some point. You can‘t read this book without music either. Right now it‘s Neil Young ❤️ #beerandabook

TrishB Sounds perfect 👍🏻 6y

bedandabook It has been really hot, hasn‘t it? I enjoy the sunshine, but I have to admit that my favourite season is winter; I‘m just weird like that 🤪 Sounds like the ideal day! 6y
ChloeTallis Ooohhh looks good! I'm back onto a Maggie O'Farrell 6y
JillR @chloetallis this writing has a feel of Maggie O‘Farrell 👍 Are you reading This Must be the Place? If so I LOVED it x 6y
JillR @bedandabook I admit I did complain it was too hot 😳 6y
MrBook No info on the book here on Litsy 😕. Sounds good so far. What's the synopsis? 6y
JillR I know @MrBook, I noticed that too. It‘s a fictional memoir of a singer/songwriter. The premise is that she is taking a day to select the 16 songs in her repertoire that have meant the most to her...and behind each song lies a story... Each chapter starts with the song then follows the story behind it. 6y
ChloeTallis Already read that last year, was so so good. I'm reading The hand that first held mine 😊 @JillR 6y
MrBook Ohhh. Added! 😁 6y
MrBook We need an entry filled in by LT, @kgriffith 😁 6y

Really looking forward to starting this tonight. I love Laura Barnett‘s writing as a journalist and enjoyed her first novel The Versions of Us. Also love music, so hoping this one is as good as it sounds! There is an actual album to accompany the book too... 🎧

For some reason it‘s taken me AGES to read this book, but I LOVED it! Class is such an honest character and her story so interesting. There‘s an album of the songs from this book performed by Kathryn Williams, so I definitely want a copy and then possibly to reread it with the music - such a clever idea to write about a singer and get the songs to go with it! I loved The versions of us too so I‘m hoping Barnett is working on her next book!

Any book that has a physical playlist is all right by me!! This is about a fictional singer-songwriter, who is making a return to her former flourishing career after a long break caused by a death and a breakdown. Each chapter starts with a song from her 'back catalogue'. The album has really been recorded (and can be bought) by Kathryn Williams, and isn't half bad!! This book made me cry! Great, flawed characters, and a believable storyline!

This is a really unusual book it is a memoir about a fictional singer songwriter. The amount of detail that the book gives about the life of Cass and the people in her life it is hard to believe that it is. Cass had some definite hard spells in her life but she was lucky to have some good people in her corner. An amazing book you don't have to be into music to read this book it is a story of life, relationships ,loves and losses. Fantastic
