I‘m only like halfway through this small book but I find the descriptive way it was written plus the millions of names quite tedious. If it would be any longer this might be a DNF, which is sad, because the story is interesting...

On the plus side: our apples are ripe😍

Soubhiville I love apple season! 5y

What better way to start in the day - tea, new book and fluffy cat in the sun on the balcony. Could life always be this great please?😍

I really loved this story. The adventure itself was enchanting and the story well told. Would have been 5 star but there was a lot of 'person son of person who's son that-guy once did a thing' moments which were frustrating, but would probably have been important back in the day. Would still gladly read again ❤🧡💛

#13inThree update: listened to the first hour and a bit of A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet at the gym (LOVING IT!!! ❤)! Decided that this is as good a time as any to work my way through my Penguin Little Black Classics, so I've now finished the first two (pictured) and started the 3rd (tagged) 😊 it's been a good day 😁❤💙💜
@Samplergal

BarbaraJean Long Way to a Small Angry Planet is SO GOOD!!! The second (tagged) is wonderful as well, and I‘m so excited for the third coming out this summer! 6y
TCLinrow @BarbaraJean It's been so good so far! I'm going to be listening to it at every opportunity! I managed to buy the first 2 books on the audible 2 for 1 sale so you can probably guess what I'll be listening to next 😉 6y

Enjoyable tale of two warriors fighting over a beautiful maiden using both swords and the ancient Icelandic version of rap battles, poetry. I've never read any Icelandic myths before, but the basic plot was still familiar without feeling stale.

vivastory I love the sagas. I really like this anthology 7y
Brie Oh thanks I'll check that one out too! @vivastory 7y
RealBooks4ever @vivastory I've got that one too! Some day I'll actually read it. It's a brick! 😆 7y

I take back earlier criticisms, once you get past the lists of names this was very enjoyable and I will be reading more Icelandic sagas. Another very interesting little book from penguin

Maike Is it one of those little black classics? I'm thinking about getting them and would love to hear your opinion. 7y
smccallum @Maike it is! I've only just started reading them so have only got through four but there's been something worthwhile in everything and 3/4 have made me want to read further into said author or subject so I'd highly recommend them 7y
Heather_Reads If you're looking for some more Icelandic fiction, I can highly recommend 'Wayward Heroes' by Halldór Laxness. It's a bit draggy at times, but I had a great time reading it. 7y
saresmoore "I will be reading more Icelandic sagas" is a perfect example of why I love Litsy! 7y
