A rogue Black Ops unit with the president in their crosshairs. A Secret Service agent who will break every rule. A president falling for the one person he shouldn't-a man. Newly elected President Jack Spiers's presidency is rocked from the very beginning, and he's working furiously to keep the world from falling apart. Between terrorism attacks ripping apart Europe, Russia's constant posturing and aggression, and the quagmire of the Middle East, Jack is struggling to keep his campaign promise-to work toward a better, safer world. For Special Agent Ethan Reichenbach, Jack is just another president, the third in twelve years. With Jack's election, he's been promoted, and now he's running the presidential detail, which puts him side by side with Jack daily. He's expecting another stuffed suit and an arrogant DC politician, but Jack shocks him with his humor and humanity. There are rules against a Secret Service agent and one of their protectees developing a friendship-big rules. Besides, Jack is straight as a ruler, and a widower, and Ethan has always avoided falling for straight men. Ethan keeps his distance, but Jack draws him in, like gas to a naked flame, and it's a lure he isn't strong enough to turn away from. As the two men collide, rules are shattered and the world teeters on the verge of war, and a rogue Black Ops unit bent on destruction sets Jack in their deadly crosshairs. Ethan must put everything on the line in order to save the man he's come to love, Jack's presidency, and the world.

M/M romance centering a widowed American president and the head of his secret service. I stumbled on this through TikTok and saw there was a 2 months wait at the library so had to get it. It was fairly cheesy, the characters have deep themes but that isn't the point. There is a bit of action but mostly it is about overcoming life and loving someone. I rolled my eyes a bit too much, but it definitely kept my attention.

Not a pick for me because this action genre CIA-agent-protects-and-accidentally-falls-for-presidents didn‘t work for me, but not a so-so book. I thought the characters were interesting and their conflict was explored well. For action fans, I think the action scenes will definitely appeal but I kept finding everything a bit over the top (which this genre often is!). #LGBTQIA #Action

I‘m not even sure what happened to me but I know I enjoyed it. This newest Tal Bauer is tightly written, more than a little timely, suspenseful, and also swoon-worthy. 5🌈⭐️.

I LOVED THIS swoony, spicy read with just the perfect kind of angst. Single dads, best friends to lovers, bi awakening. #gaymay This is by the same author as the tagged book, since this one isn‘t in the database.

squirrelbrain Thanks for your sweet card Megan! It really didn‘t take long to get here - only a week! 2y
Nutmegnc @squirrelbrain well, I‘m glad to hear it! The Mother‘s Day card I sent to another state on the same day hasn‘t yet arrived! 😱 2y
squirrelbrain Oh no, how awful Megan! What is it with all of our postal services at the moment?! 2y
chasjjlee Ooo, I love Tal's writing! Like how does he incorporate the perfect amount of swoon and spice?!? I'm here for ALL of it! I need to read this one soon 💜. 2y
Nutmegnc @chasjjlee EXACTLY. It is perfection!! 2y

Spent the day dealing with the insurance adjuster who came to appraise the storm damage from last week (we're going to be replacing the roof and gutters, shed, siding, lawn furniture, and all our planters that we hadn't had a chance to plant in yet) and then sorting through some stuff for a garage sale. The rest of my night is this book, pizza, and Madame Secretary.

Alfoster Sounds like a perfect evening! 7y

I was warned. This is all @Christy2318 fault; she said she stayed up entirely too late reading this book, and I love a new M/M series. I couldn't help myself, and now it's later than I've been up since going on vacation, and I should be sleeping, but ugh the slow burn is so delicious. #queerbooks

Christy2318 I'm glad you loved it! 7y

M/M romantic action thriller. Kind of like London Has Fallen if Butler and Eckhart's characters were romantically involved. Great story telling and character development! 👍👍👍👍👍There is a lot of graphic sex which could put some people off the story. #romantsy #romanticsuspense #diversebooks #kindleunlimited

bookishkai Oooh, thanks for the rec. this looks right up my alley. 7y
Christy2318 @bookishkris It was so good. I stayed up way too late to find out what happened. 7y
bookishkai @Christy2318 I ended up buying the kindle bundle with all three of the books, because I'm fickle like that. I LOVE M/M fiction, and a new series made my day. Have you read the Cut & Run series by Abi Roux? 7y
