Heretics of Dune
Heretics of Dune | Frank Herbert
With more than ten million copies sold, Frank Herbert's magnificent Dune books stand among the major achievements of the human imagination. In this, the fifth and most spectacular Dune book of all, the planet Arrakis--now called Rakis--is becoming desert again. The Lost Ones are returning home from the far reaches of space. The great sandworms are dying. And the children of Dune's children awaken from empire as from a dream, wielding the new power of a heresy called love...

Surprisingly was very into the characters for a 5th book in a series. Sheanna, Odrade, Duncan, Taraza, and Miles all brought value to a very solid plot. I think the dynamics of this story and trying to rangle the new worms and the threat of the Honored Matres (and eventual fate of Dune) could make this the best book to movie stories. Hope it happens.

This is my favourite of the Dune series so far (with the exception of the first book) - really enjoyed the power play, trying to figure out the end goal, and the ever shifting alliances!

And here‘s my #bookspin #doublespin #booksponbingo for April 😁

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! I still have the original Dune sitting on my shelf unread as it has been for quite a few years now 😂 12mo
bekakins @TheAromaofBooks the first one is well worth a read it‘s brilliant! Books 2-4 are good but hard going in parts 😆 12mo

This has been my #roll100 for June, and yes I took my time reading it. And I enjoyed it so much more than rushing through it in one months time. I already miss visiting Rakis, Duncan and this feeling of coming home to a good series I got whenever I was reading it.

All the work of the previous books in the series comes together on this fifth book. Nearly all the characters are memorable and real. The plot is complex, as many Dune novels have been, bit at least this time you get a major payoff. Well worth reading the previous four books to get to.

Halfway through this #Audiobook!

Sad 😔 the Dune movie scheduled for December 2020 was pushed forward to October of NEXT year 2021.

readordierachel Me too. I get why they did it, but still disappointed 3y
CrowCAH @readordierachel same. But it still sucks. They released a trailer! And it was going to line up perfectly with several new Dune book and comic releases. 3y

#AprilTBR plans are finishing library e-loans, plus Heretics of Dune & then Chapterhouse Dune. Maybe Hunters of Dune, but I'll probably stop with the original books for now. BH & KJA weren't quite able to capture Frank Herbert's magic. After that? 🤷‍♀️I'm a mood reader but I do have a #TBR list for challenges I'm doing this year. One of those books should help cure my inevitable #epicreread #bookhangover once I finish Dune. #ReadingResolutions

Godmotherx5 I was talking to my siblings about Dune this past weekend. None of read it but we are curious. 6y

Like all of the series so far, a very smart book. So many subjects and so much thought provoking material. I don't know why I'm always surprised it takes me longer to get through these.

Also, the closest thing to a cliffhanger I've experienced in the series. Kinda cool.

God - Emperor, Leto Atreides II ❤ WOW. What a character! He is all knowing, incredibly pragmatic and intelligent. And not afraid to make hard decisions so that the human kind can evolve to a better place, even if it means he has to torture it for eons.
