A Deadly Cliche
A Deadly Cliche | Ellery Adams
4 posts | 9 read | 5 to read
While walking her poodle, Olivia Limoges discovers a dead body buried in the sand. Could it be connected to the bizarre burglaries plaguing Oyster Bay, North Carolina? At every crime scene, the thieves set up odd tableaus: a stick of butter with a knife through it, dolls with silver spoons in their mouths, a deck of cards with a missing queen. Olivia realizes each setup represents a clich. And who better to decode the clich clues than her Bayside Book Writers group?

Listened to Dead Beat in the car and A Deadly Cliche while walking. We‘re in Florida celebrating our 35th anniversary. I hope Dorian doesn‘t come this way.; it doesn‘t look like it will.

A worn out paperback from the library (I really want to repair it with scotch tape the way I do my own books when they're this worn but idk if that's allowed with library books) that I'm enjoying.

One issue though, a previous reader has made editorial notes (sloppy ones) in the book. Mostly changing "man" and "manning" into "staff" and "staffing". It's irritating. It disrupts my reading flow. :(

#dontwriteinlibrarybooks

BookishMarginalia I would amend the hashtag to #dontwriteinbooksthatdontbelongtoyou 😎 7y
Vexingcircumstance @BookishMarginalia valid point. I've never had anyone write in a book they borrowed from me before though (although I do often highlight things in my own books). Is that a thing people do? 7y
Suet624 I'm surprised the library hasn't purchased a new copy. 7y
Vexingcircumstance @Suet624 I doubt they would bother for an old paperback like this. They'd probably just not have a copy at all until/unless someone suggested it for purchase. 7y

Pickpick

Very good series! These books have characters that are relatable and interesting. I don't feel that often when reading a book. I want to catch up with the series, because they are top quality mysteries!
