The all-female law firm of Rosato & Associates has always been on the side of what is right. But true justice isn t always black and white. . . Mary DiNunzio, who just made partner, takes on her most unusual case yet, brought to the firm by Allegra Gardner, a thirteen-year-old genius from an extraordinarily wealthy family. Allegra s sister, Fiona, was murdered six years ago, and it seemed like an open-and-shut case: the accused, Lonnie Stall, was seen fleeing the scene; his blood was on Fiona and her blood was on him; and, most damning, Stall pleaded guilty. But young Allegra believes Stall is innocent and wrongly imprisoned. The powerful Gardner family and Allegra s own parents oppose reopening the case, so taking it on is risky. But Rosato & Associates can never resist an underdog. Was justice really served all those years ago? It will take Mary and her team of unstoppable lawyers, plus one teenager, to learn the truth."

I love mysteries that can also make me laugh. Mary is hired by a 13 year old who believes the wrong man was imprisoned for her sister‘s murder. As she hunts down the truth Mary also becomes engaged.

I loved the book, the plot, Mary‘s character and how it showed both her personal life and the crime side of what she was investigating.

My only critique of the audio version is how Mary‘s family was portrayed. I know they‘re loud, but this was over the top!

In the story, teenager Allegra is on a mission to find out how her sister was truly murdered. She knows the man in prison is innocent.

But if he‘s innocent, then who‘s guilty?

When your mom tells you she likes an author and you find 3 of the author's books at your local thrift shop! So you buy them to mail to her. OH YEAHHHH!

Perhaps the book is better. The story itself was fine, but I would be happy to have heard far less about Mary‘s family. The narration, especially the overly loud impressions of the family members ,was so over the top it bordered on ridiculous. 🙄

Gee...looks like there was a crime/drama theme this month. 🤔

Top 3:
1. Accused - A new series discovery featuring an all female law firm. Witty and fast paced.
2. Small Great Things - Yes, there was predictability and stereotypes, but I still found it quite good.
3. Doctor Dealer - True crime and fascinating.

Biggest 🙄🙄🙄 award goes to The Third Wife. I like Lisa Jewell for an easy audiobook, but this one was a little cringeworthy.

I absolutely ❤️ Lisa Scottoline and her stand alone novels so I wanted to absolutely ❤️ this book. (This is the first book in her series that I have read.) Unfortunately, this was just okay for me. I found Mary annoying until the very end when she seemed more level headed. I liked the crime being solved. The narrator‘s Italian accent grated my nerves. Considering my likes and dislikes I‘m sure I‘ll attempt another book in this series. 😛

A fun and breezy read that was more fun than thriller-y. I feel like there were prequels to this story that I was supposed to have read. The mystery itself wasn‘t very satisfying but it was very fun listening to Mary run around Philadelphia since that‘s where I live.

I listened to this on audiobook and it did not disappoint! I laughed out loud numerous times. I really thought I knew who the killer was but I was way off!

Suzze I see you have the same problem I do. Piles of books that are unread. I wanted to read Shantaram when I was working and knew I didn't have time, so I had a friend read it. 😁 She like it, but didn't love it. I did read Middlesex and liked it a lot. 7y

I have read several Rosato & DiNunzio books over the years, but I haven't read one for a long time. Reading Accused was like slipping into a pair of sweatpants and an old soft sweater on an autumn evening. Pure comfort. Loved it.

Bookzombie That's a great way to describe the feelings that some series bring me! 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 I need to read this and the ones coming after. It's been years since I've read any of the newer books. 8y
