Say Nothing
Say Nothing: A Novel | Brad Parks
Terrific book. Truly terrific. Tension throughout and tears at the end. What could be better than that?Sue Grafton Outstandingstarts with a bang and gets tenser and tenser. Say Nothing shows Parks is a quality writer at the top of his form.Lee Child Judge Scott Sampson doesnt brag about having a perfect life, but the evidence is clear: A prestigious job. A beloved family. On an ordinary Wednesday afternoon, he is about to pick up his six-year-old twins to go swimming when his wife, Alison, texts him that shell get the kids from school instead. Its not until she gets home later that Scott realizes she doesnt have the children. And she never sent the text. Then the phone rings, and every parents most chilling nightmare begins. A man has stolen Sam and Emma. A man who warns the judge to do exactly as he is told in a drug case he is about to rule on. If the judge fails to follow his instructions, the consequences for the children will be dire. For Scott and Alison, the kidnappers call is only the beginning of a twisting, gut-churning ordeal of blackmail, deceit, and terror; a high-profile trial like none the judge or his wife has ever experienced. Their marriage falters. Suspicions and long-buried jealousies rise to the surface. Fractures appear. Lies are told. Through it all, Scott and Alison will stop at nothing to get their children back, no matter the cost to themselves . . . or to each other. A twisting, suspenseful ride that adds a new and original twist to the legal thriller: a judge, cornered. If you haven't discovered Brad Parks yet, Say Nothing is your chance. Smart, propulsive storytelling.William Landay

A suspenseful thriller about a judge whose twins are kidnapped. He must follow all instructions to get his kids back safely. Twisty enough that it'll have you suspecting everyone. #thatendingtho

Brad Parks may just be your new favorite author if you read this book. Also love it takes place near where I live so I could visualize everything.
So many twists and turns, surprises you don't see coming. If you love an action packed thriller this will not disappoint!

#TBRtemptation post 4! Judge Scott Sampson gets ready to pick up his 6-year-old twins, Sam & Emma, from school when he receives a text from his wife, Alison, that she'll pick them up. When he gets home, there's no kids & Alison never texted him. Then they get a call. The man says to rule a certain way in a current high-profile drug case or else. Things fall apart rapidly, especially their marriage. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Bookladylinda Brad Parks was here in Atlanta for the book signing of this book, will hopefully get a chance to read it soon, 7y

This showed up in my Facebook newsfeed memories today. I had forgotten that two years ago, I was with author, Brad Parks at a library regional spelling bee. It was so much fun!

A little less than halfway through but enjoying the writing style and story. Perhaps I need to investigate more Brad Parks novels. Will review when I finish.

Maggie0557 Finished - intense! A solid crime thriller; occasionally difficult to read but I frequently found myself anxious to get back to this book to see what was going on! 7y

We has an awesome night with Brad Parks signing and discussing his newest book! I'm about 150 pages in and it's a great thriller. Kidnapped kids to use against a federal judge and lots of twists and turns! #mystery #thriller #BradParks

Bailedbailed

Well, while I was bailing on this, Harper abandoned the photo. So we both bailed. The story was fine, the writing was good enough, interesting plot and characters...but after waking up from nightmares, with my heart racing several times in one night, I quit. I just have a problem when little children are kidnapped. Scary, bloody, spooky, creepy are ok, kidnap a kid and I fold. 🙄 #catsoflitsy #cattails 😐

A gripping read for the March 2017 list. “Fans of crime fiction & domestic drama will find much to love here. Judge Scott Sampson is a devoted family man thrown into a parent‘s worst nightmare: his 6-year-old twins are kidnapped & the kidnappers blackmail Scott into immoral legal decisions. Cue marital meltdown, ethical dilemmas & paranoia. A great choice for fans of Coben & Hurwitz.”

A thriller filled with real people and situations that you can believe. You'll run the emotional gamut a time or two while reading this and will wish you could read faster just so you can make sure these kids make it home. I think I like the Carter Ross books more than this, but it's in Say Nothing that Parks finds his stride as a crime fiction writer. Really well done.

I almost didn't finish this book. I wasn't sure I liked the Judge and how he was handling the kidnapping and one other event. I set it aside a couple of times and debated picking it back up. I did finish it and Brad does a great job of bringing all the storylines together. I even was teary eyed at the ending scene. I really like the Carter Ross series by Parks and I hope he goes back to them.
