I am beyond excited to learn that First Lady Michelle Obama is the Opening General Session speaker for the American Library Association Annual Conference! This is my first conference in 5 years (took a baby break) and I‘m so glad to be able to see her! #alaac18

KathyWheeler @Chelleo They definitely are! Most of our staff have never been, so we are having a “How to do ALA exhibits right, without breaking your back” boot camp for them before we head out. (edited) 6y

LibrarianRyan @Chelleo I did book Expo in 2016 because it was in Chicago and I missed Ala and PLA. Plus BEA is so much cheaper. I love ALA for its sessions but hate the floor. So hate the floor. And around here ILA is a joke unless you are a big library. If you are a small library with a small budget like 50% of our state they don't seem to care about you. ARSL (association of small and rural libraries) is having their conference in my town this year so maybe 6y
