Took me forever to read as this is a big book but glad I stuck to it! This is the first time I read a novel from this author. His writing style is very different but I enjoyed it as well as the story.

Read this and Berkley Street which is the first book of this series. These books are pretty entertaining with action and suspense. Not amazing literature so to speak but I enjoy them.:)

This is the first book I‘ve read by this author and was really impressed. The book had a slowish beginning but got better and better as it got to the climax. Definitely will have to check out some of her other books.:)

The Haunting of Hill House | Shirley Jackson
Pickpick

Although I had to go through a lot of pages of intro by two people (sorry want to read the book, not ramblings of people about said book), this was a great story. Definitely had a good buildup and a twisted ending. If you like horror more on suspense and such, this is a good one.:)

Infected: A Novel | Scott Sigler
Pickpick

I really liked this one and couldn‘t put it down. Read it in little more than two days cuz work and life and stuff. The plot was a weird one but nevertheless, entertaining. If you don‘t like graphic, body horror stuff, do not read this book. There‘s lots of blood. Apparently it‘s a trilogy. Gonna get the other two books on my Nook very soon.:)

The Alchemist | Paulo Coelho
Pickpick

I enjoyed this book. I‘m still letting its messages sink into my head, but I enjoyed the story. The novel had a great cast of characters: a Shepard, a King, an Englishman, and an Alchemist. (Sounds like an opening line to a joke lol). Anyways, it was a good read and would recommend it.

Started reading this novel this weekend. I‘ll see what camp I‘m in whether I like it or not. (It seems very divided on opinion on Reddit.) So far, I like it, but I‘m only on the start of part 2 though. lol

The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza | Shaun David Hutchinson
Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book. The premise of it is loopy as hell: girl born from a virgin birth with magical healing powers and guided by voices from inanimate objects. And oh yeah, people are being raptured, too. As crazy as it sounds, it had a great plot and I was always wanting to read more to find out the rest of the story. So overall, check it out.:)

Started this today! This is a very quirky book to say the least! A girl born from a true virgin birth with powers to heal and suck up people into clouds?? Weird but cool!! Not spoilers as it‘s on the inside cover‘s summary. lol

A lighthearted YA novel but it was good! It was just what I needed inbetween a serious book about genes.:)

Mehso-so

I finally finished it! I‘m a slooooowwww reader when it comes to non-fiction books, but I did like this one overall. I‘m giving it a so-so because there were several dry areas where I had to get up and take a break. This book was written in 1999, so I‘ll have to see if my library has a more up-to-date book on genes.

blurb
whimsy_rainbow

My nonfiction book I‘ve been reading in between fiction. It‘s taking me forever as I‘m not as used to read this genre compared plowing through a good story. lol But, it‘s good so far! On chromosome 19 now.:) It‘s from 1999, so outdated compared to now. Will have to see what‘s more recent on genetics at my library.:)

Bird Box: A Novel | Josh Malerman
Mehso-so

I liked the story overall as I wanted to keep going and going until the end. But, I was left somewhat disappointed by the abrupt ending. A nice read but get it from the library. I do have a few more books to read including House of Leaves as another recommended thriller like Bird Box. Hopefully that one will have more punch.

Although not everything is answered, I did like the closure this book gave compared to the last book I read. Overall, a good story and good pacing. I wouldn‘t mind reading nor by this author down the road. Overall, pretty good, not outstanding, but a good quicker YA read.

I liked this book, but it was very slow and took me awhile to read. I am glad to have finished it though, but I have more questions than answers now. Makes me wonder if there will be a sequel? But I don‘t think so. I give it 3.5-4 stars because of the slow pacing but overall, it wasn‘t bad. Definitely a book you want to take your time on.

Shadow Girl | Liana Liu

I‘d rate it 4 to 4.5 stars. It was good up until the ending and then kind of fell flat. Maybe my hopes were up too much on how I wanted it to end. Overall, good story, meh ending. I‘d still read more by this author though if given a chance.

Wasn‘t sure if I‘d like this but after reading this book, I‘d say it rocks! Great strong character cast and development. Plus magic! Really liked the way the author incorporated things like runes and history into the story. Also loved the textbook format as it was very unique and I found the little tidbits on the pages interesting. Overall, good read; check it out!

Overall, plot was decent. Main character, Marnie, took awhile to like though. She was conveyed as very bratty and standoffish during the first half and so of the book which I‘m purpose by the author. Still took awhile to like her though. Character development was average but not too bad. Some parts of the story were hard to believe like her online friend going after her. But that‘s what makes it fiction. Overall, not too bad.
