Pickpick

LOVE LOVE LOVE Alexandra Bracken's The Darkest Minds series and now that the final volume is finally published in Italian as well it's time for a reread. The Darkest Legacy does a great job of taking the series one step further and introducing interesting new characters. I'm still crushing hard on Liam Stewart though 😍

Starting this beauty today!

Jess7 How do you like this one so far? I have it but I haven‘t read it yet. 6y
miz @Jess7 I like the setting and the atmospheric writing, but I feel the novel could easily be 250 pages shorter without suffering too much. Lots of background detail and very little plot. It's what I needed at this time, though, so I'm quite happy :) have you read any other novel by the same author? 6y

Depressive Illness | Dr Tim Cantopher
post image

Healthy breakfast, trying to think happy thoughts and get through the week...

This is a lovely little book based on the premise that depressive illness (stress induced depression rather than manic- depressive or bipolar disorder etc) affects people with a strong character because they take on heavier loads, again and again, until something snaps. Then it illustrates some ways to break that cycle.

DebinHawaii Hope your week goes well. 💜 6y

Sudden rainstorm forced us in Amsterdam's prettiest bookstore. Now that's what I call good weather.

A quick look outside my window while I reread the Silmarillion... and yes, even as I look up from the page, I'm still in Middle Earth.

But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren't chosen, when there was no royal blood in our veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway.

A heavy snowfall in Kabul means hard work for us in New Delhi - organising a training course on the promotion of youth-inclusive and gender-balanced employment policies in Afghanistan. With a little free time for reading this lovely little travel book on India! Incredible country full of wonderful people and spirituality.
