The love of sea, men, and family...can't get much better than that. Such depth to the characters and the scenery... almost makes you believe you lived it.

I knew nothing about what the Lativians faced...so much focus is often on other ravaged parts of Europe...I'm glad this piece of history was remembered...it brought some of the forgotten people to life...horrors of war with morsals of hope...family...love...and survivors.

For the love of mental health read this book.!!! How to fight for those who have lost their will to fight... and need to be reminded how incredibly strong and brave they are.

Blueberry Loved that book. 1w

City of Girls | Elizabeth Gilbert

Completely racey...deliciously scandelous...yet innocent and alluring...a unique perspective of war times and the life altered after...about not living up to people's expectations. Giving yourself and others grace and second chances. About growing your own family by welcoming the people around you. Much depth and personal emotions put into the characters...you felt the real life anguish in the fictional characters.

Estonishly rich with culture...a healthy mix of romance, loss, dreams, and possibilities while facing a life-altering illness. Friends, family, and the love of neighbors all mixed into a journey of discovery of faults, failures, and forgiveness.

Campy...remembering 9-11 a whole new way...first loves...bad puns...complicated family dynamics...real life fears...holding on...letting go...and moving forward. Before, during, and after life's big events shape our normal.

It seemed rather sexist...like oh hey everyone is cool with polygomy...and biting your tongue when your husband is a prick...and let's throw in a untrusting pair for a romance...with a hint of rebellion. It was a bit too predictable for me.

A book that gently shares how one woman rebuilt her faith foundations and how her hilariously mischievious donkeys and family kept her company along the way. So many life tidbits to chew on. Refreshing and remarkably honest.

The storyline and overall concepts borrowed a bit too much of a watered down version of Chronicles of Narnia for me.

I somewhat wish there were more relatable stories or elements involving the book title Dancing with Elephants. I got distracted by the poetry. Some great quotes and definate things to chew on involving fatal illnesses and living life happy and to the fullest no matter what.

I think the author forgot to write the ending.

A traveler and island gals dream wrapped into an adventure-packed story of love, romance, family, folklore, and mischief. Fingers crossed that the author writes many more delicious tales. And pirates...did I mention pirates???

I love travel...I'm sure the author is a lovely creature but I don't think I could travel with this gal and how she gushes about herself. The places are facinating but I had to bail.

I enjoyed the family dynamics...there were a few characters that maybe could have been a bit more developed. About the love of family, memories and choices that haunt us...and how to muddle through the best we know how with the baggage and scars we carry.

Props for the author describing loss like your life going from color to black and white...how color sometimes seeps in and surprises you. Also about finding your wings ...your way in life. Beautifully written.

This book reminds me of Forrest Gump's decision to just stop walking for no apparent reason after miles and miles...the author talked generally about places he went but didn't give a sense of being overally excited or passionate about the whole thing....it was just kind of like...and now I will get married...what?

Maybe this book would have been better in Polish? I'm still trying to figure out the overall point of this story. Friendship? Making fun of crappy translating? History as it's remembered?

Incredibly well written. It really took the author guts to write these painful truths about her family. There were so many monents I wanted to throw this book across the room...the parents. I just can't even comprehend everything these kids battled through to survive.

This book was so eye-opening and inspiring. Regardless of your political views...it's encouraging how far we've come as women and a bit discouraging how far we still have to go. I can only hope our next president has even half the gusto for positive change that our former FLOTUS has.

I think the title should be...
Decide what you want to give an F about and stop wasting everyone's time...Entitlement sucks...or See how many times you can cuss in a book to try and be original. The title is edgy but that's about all I'll give it.

kricheal It should be called Toxic Positivity. 3w

The author's Ted Talk and Girls Who Code movement are awesome. I struggled with the book a bit because I'm not convinced everyone struggles with the need to be perfect. The book did give perspective on how many boys and girls are raised and expected to behave. The best take away was flexing your brave muscle. A quick read if you need a kick in the pants.
