Spent some time at the local Independence Day Parade! The walk back to the cottage made us all a little sleepy. This little one was having falling asleep in bed so he joined me while I read. He was enjoying Letters about Thanksgiving at the homestead as he drifted to sleep.

The kids and I took a road trip to the family farm in Northern California. We listened to The Complete Tales of Beatrix Potter on the way. I had forgotten how fantastic these stories were!!

Pickpick

It took me a few chapters to get into the story but once I found a good pace I was in it. I love books told from different POVs. That said, I also feel somewhat let down even though I enjoyed it. Some of the storylines seemed super predictable. The ending was different. Overall, I'm stuck somewhere between really liking it and it being a "so-so" read.

Loved this prompt!! Congrats again on 75,000 Kaye!

Kaye 🎁thanks for playing. Did I read it right ? Your town has 200 people ? That‘s the smallest so far. I thought ours was small. 6y
ashleyamak @Kaye yes! Just about 200 full time residents. In the summer we get a lot more people (summer residents and tourists) as we are in the middle of a National Forest. We aren't even a town as much as we are simply a Census Designated Place. 6y
Kaye Sounds like a wonderful place to live. 6y

Here's my #GARbingo card. My starting score was 51. I'm going to start with these nine after I finish Modern Lovers and see where I get. Most of the other titles were not interesting to me at all.

I've officially made it further today than I did in the previous 8 months owning this book. Thanks baby for letting me use you as a book rest while you cluster feed hahah

laurieluna Cluster feeds are the best excuse to binge read! 🙌 6y
asiriusreader Hahaha. Love it — I use my middle of the night pumping sessions as time to catch up on my audiobooks!! 6y
ashleyamak @miralunasbooknook yes! Did it all the time with my first. He's 3 now so I have to juggle his antics with feeding her and hoping to get real books read. 6y

ashleyamak @asiriusreader big props to you mama! Pumping was so hard for me. 6y
laurieluna Ditto! Juggling 2 and finding time to read is hard, but reading is my only hobby atm. Youngest is 7 and a half months now and it is getting easier. 6y
ashleyamak @miralunasbooknook our littlest ones are about the same age. She was born Aug 25. 6y
laurieluna @ashleyamak August 31st here! He'll be the youngest in his year. Eldest is 3 on the 3rd of June. 😊 It's a good age gap because the eldest will reach a point where he won't remember not having a little brother. He loves him! 6y
asiriusreader @ashleyamak awww, thanks! Only pumping because breastfeeding was a no-go for my little love (lazy latcher!). 😝 it‘s definitely hard, but worth it! 6y
ashleyamak @miralunasbooknook same here. My first technically will not be 3 until the 14th of May. We just round up since it is so close. I agree that it is a great age gap. 6y

I am slightly surprised that I've read as many as I have. The text beneath said "You Love Books!" I'm not sure my love of books is what made me read as many books as were on this as it was taken Honors and AP English in High school and extra Lit classes in college.

Find your results here: http://www.pbs.org/the-great-american-read/quiz/

MelissaSue81 I‘ve read an embarrassingly low amount. But there aren‘t that many that I feel Very compelled to read that I haven‘t. 6y
ashleyamak @MelissaSue81 There are quite a few on the list that I would not have read if it was not for school and not many that I haven't read that I have interest in. 6y

Starting Modern Lovers for the third time since September. I haven't been able to decide on anything else. I still haven't even picked my Amazon First Read for April either. Let's see how it goes.

I saw this quote the other day and fell in love with it. It's so beautiful and so true.

It has nothing to do with any book I'm reading because I'm not reading anything other than bedtime books to the kids.

I'm in a slump and looking for something new to read. Despite an ever growing TBR, I cannot decide what to pick up next.

1. First 40 Days tagged above is my favorite right now. It's a pregnancy related cookbook but it's pretty awesome. It looks at the relationship between food and post partum healing. Also Soy Sauce for Beginners was a great read.
2. Pizza
3. Stinky goat cheese
4. Christmas
5. Too many to choose from but I'll pick our local favorite which is Foxfire at Alpine

I'm so torn about this book! I think I would have really loved it had it just been about the food, farming and reconnecting to her heritage. All the financial stuff and their extremely poor decisions really didn't sit well. Originally, I felt that Jennifer's character was rather likable and I could understand how they got to this point. After the second half of the book I was put off by her and just done hearing her complain. #BigLibraryRead

Is this why everyone dislikes this title? #BigLibraryRead

Finally got a few minutes to read and actually eat some sort of breakfast. Hummus toast with tomatoes. I'm still pushing through the #BigLibraryRead Flat Broke With Two Goats. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. It's any easy read and despite their stupid choices, I'm finding Jennifer somewhat relatable/likable. However, there's something there keeping me from loving it.

lovelyn I just finished that book this weekend and had similar feelings about. 6y

I'm not entirely into this book so far but this section right here hit me hard. It brought up so many emotions from my own Grandmother's passing. The quiet moments of labored breaths. Having us come over there but not wanting us there at the same time. #BigLibraryRead

I'm having trouble staying engaged with Wild and Free so I've put it back "on the shelf" for now. Tonight I'm starting "Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine" for the It's All Good book club with Dani Hampton of the Sometimes Sweet blog.

So far so good. I started reading the first few pages aloud to help her fall asleep in the sling but before I knew it I was twenty pages deep and she was snoring. #iagbookclub
