The Last Book Party | Karen Dukess
post image
Mehso-so

I didn't know what to expect with The Last Book Party. It was very atmospheric; every time I read, I was transported right into the book. I also loved how bookish it was Unfortunately I could not connect with the main character. She made such foolish decisions, and as a reader, there just wasn't any payoff. There were *two* plot twist close together, that had no real consequences.

I bought a used book listed as "in good condition" but I beg to differ.
I certainly don't mind annotations, but if part of a page is missing, how could I read it?

BoleyBooks 😢 I‘ve known this frustration. 4d

Paperback.Propensity @BoleyBooks Thank you, that is a very kind thought. I emailed the seller to see if they have another copy by any chance. 4d

Woman 99: A Novel | Greer Macallister

Pickpick

I do not read either thriller, or historical fiction very often. Woman 99 is a good historical thriller. I discovered it from an ad and thought it sounded like something my best friend would read. So we did a buddy read. We agree the main character is not very bright, but that doesn't taint the book too much. The ending was perfect.

Well paced and suspenseful. Nate is a strong character - skilled, and smart. I enjoyed the unexpected things that came up, and the big secret. Everything a thriller should be.

Very slow, and it started out feeling like domestic fiction, only for it to turn out to be something closer to magical realism.
There was also a character in it who didn't need to be there, contributed nothing to the plot. It goes back and forth between past and present, but feeling like it was about two different characters. By the time the two timelines meet up, the book is nearly finished

Hoping to finish this by tomorrow night.
I won it as an ARC from LibraryThing, and I am not really sure what to say about it, but I have to review it because that's the deal.
It's not a terrible book, I just don't really have much to say about it (so far).

I don't tend to pick out high fantasy novels for myself (I got Wicked Saints from repping Uppercase) but this was actually really good. I stayed up late last night to finish it, and all I could think was !!!!!!!!
I kind of eyeroll that every YA has a romance, but I've been single for a long time, so when the kiss happened, I fell for it. 😂😂

I just picked this up from the library.

I know I am reading Silksinger right now, but I've had Field Notes on Love on hold for a while now, and if I don't finish before it's due, then I won't be able to renew it because there are other holds placed on it.

Also I am really in the mood for YA contemporary romance.

This book is so precious. It's sweet, funny, and it made me emotional.
It's always great for a child to learn that we are all different and special in our own way.
I think it is a must have for your children's book collection.

Starting this now.
"When the voices in his head begin to make sense, high school senior Branson Kovac turns to the one friend he's still got... only to discover he's not really there."

I am not totally sure what to expect here, their website categorizes it as a thriller, but they also tagged it "domestic fiction," "women's fiction," and even "new adult," so that's odd.

We shall see.

#LiteraryLuck day 21 Do you Remember

I was not sure what book to choose for this prompt, so I decided to go with something nostalgic.

I did not actually read much Judy Blume as a kid, but this is the first of her books I read, and it is just so good! I remember being in awe at how well Blume actually understood teens/pre teens.

I still think nobody does it better.

hhavel I picked up this novel several years ago. The concept of this book is brilliant, but the novel itself in its execution is a little slow-starting and average. I never finished it, but it definitely succeeded as far as the reviews and the attention it received for the author. She now is a tenured professor in a writing program at a Midwestern college. 5mo
