I planed to read a couple of pages of this late last night just to get a feel of it. That plan went out the window very quickly and I finished it in one go. Such a great read. Really atmospheric, really spooky!! It has the historical interest of the Witch Hunts mixed with modern day paranormal investigation. I'm not a believer in the paranormal at all, and this had me spooked. Highly recommended. Can't wait for the extended edition. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

GRThomas2014 I read this in one sitting. Couldn't put it down 💙 7y

Just downloaded this. I'm really looking forward to it. @BeckyWrightAuthor is the 3rd author I've found from #Bookstagram over on IG. The first 2 were @Jamesfahyauthor and Beverley Lee and I've loved their books. No pressure then...😂

I love these books. They are one of my guilty pleasures. I love books that have a sense of fun, and these deliver that in spades.

Crescent Moon | James Fahy

Crescent Moon. 2nd book in the #phoebeharkness series. This book is more in depth than Hell's Teeth, it delves more into the world inhabited by Phoebe, it's slightly darker. It also injects some nice light history into the mix, but it still retains the sense of fun and humour that so marked Teeth as a must read. This book kept me enthralled and entertained from page 1 until the end. I'm eagerly waiting for the next book... 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Hell's Teeth is superb. It's the 1st book in the series and sets the scene so well whilst still delivering on the story front. This book is so much fun! It shines with @Jamesfahyauthor humour throughout. Great characters, great story, lots of fun, kickass, strong female lead character, what's not to like? Highly recommended. #phoebeharkness #vampire #helsing

Jamesfahyauthor Thanks so much 😁🙌🏻 7y

Frankestein | Mary Shelley

Mehso-so

I know it's a terrible thing to say, but I kind of struggle with this book. I mean, I don't hate it, but I find it a challenging read. The tone just doesn't grab me and pull me in. I guess I'm more a Dracula man. I know, I'm a philistine.
#frankenstein #shelley #booknerd #bookish #bookstagram

Jamesfahyauthor I think it's a good story, but Mary tells it very dry, almost clinical. There's none of the immediate passion you get with Dracula (although to be fair, they are very different books, they were always just lumped together in the infancy of the 'horror' genre when people were deciding what was 'gothic fiction' what was 'macabre' etc. Hammer horror has a lot to answer for linking them together in our minds. 👍🏼 7y
NamelessCityApparel @Jamesfahyauthor that's a good point, I never thought of it like that. But yes, they are very different. But it does always annoy me when people classify Dracula as pulp. To me it's a really well written book, and it's a sophisticated way of telling the story, it's a million miles away from pulp. 7y

Hannibal | Thomas Harris

I read this when it first came out. I'd loved Red Dragon and Silence, so I was really looking forward to this. I hated it. I found it pretentious and hard going. Then I re read it a couple of years later and couldn't for the life of me remember why I didn't like it. Everything I didn't like about it the first time made it a great book that time. I've read it a couple of times since, and I always enjoy it. Weird huh?

These books are one of my guilty pleasures. They have the element I always look for in a good read, fun. If you liked the TrueBlood tv series but have never read the books, you're doing yourself an injustice.

Jamesfahyauthor I love these books! (I wasn't too fond of what they did with the tv show. It lost a lot of its kooky innocence. (Although Pam in the show was solid gold) 7y
NamelessCityApparel I liked the first 2 series, after that? Not so much. But I love the books. They have the same sense of fun I get in your work. @Jamesfahyauthor (edited) 7y
findingmontauk1 These books were incredible and I only read 4 of them! 7y

Airframe: A Novel | Michael Crichton
post image
Pickpick

I pretty much love all of Michael Crichton's work, but I don't often see much love being given to Airframe. I don't know why, it's got all the Crichton hallmarks. It's well researched, it's believable, it's really well written. I love it! If you've not tried it, give it a go.

Angels Flight | Michael Connelly
post image

I've been a huge Michael Connelly fan for a long time, Angels Flight was the first Bosch book I read, and I was hooked. I think Mr Connelly has also developed the Mickey Haller character enough to rival Harry in depth of character now, but Harry will always be my favourite. And it doesn't hurt that the Amazon Prime series is pretty damn good as well! #harrybosch #thriller #bookish #bibliophile #mickeyhaller

This book is everything. I first read it when I was 11 or 12, and I've been reading it ever since. I finish it, then 3 months later I'm back reading it again. It's, in my opinion of course, one of the most important works of fiction ever written. And one of the best. It's immersive, it's impeccably created, the world that Tolkien has devised is so believable. Highly recommended. In fact your home isn't complete without at least one edition.

The Hobbit | J.R.R. Tolkien

Great book. It starts out as a book meant for children, but before long it's like Tolkien knows this book is going to be a prelude to TLOTR and it gets more mature, although it never reaches the sophistication of TLOTR. it's a must read for everyone though, your life isn't complete without Tolkien in it!

Salem's Lot | Stephen King

Pickpick

This is one of my "comfy" King books. It's like slipping on a well worn broken in pair of boots. They are a little rough round the edges but hell, they just work. Same with this book. It isn't Mr K's most accomplished writing, but it works so well. The story boogies right along, it's well paced and whilst the inspiration for the book is clear, it never feels like a stolen story if you know what I mean. It's original. Great story for King newbies.
