This book was okay. I wish the audio had a whole cast narrating the different characters bc there were a lot of them. I don‘t think it warranted the lower rating on Goodreads but could see why it was like that. I didn‘t think the character development was great as there were so many characters. It got more interesting at times but I never felt fully invested. I‘m also sick of thrillers that take place on isolated islands.

I flew through this book & stayed up late on work nights to finish it. It‘s the best book I‘ve read in a long time. 5 stars isn‘t enough imo. If you‘re interested in true crime & the amateur sleuths, this book is for you! There was an interview with the author in the back & a list of resources. If the case of the Idaho college murders got your attention, then you‘ll be intrigued by the similar case in the book. Simply: Read. This. Book.

Wow what an addictive listen! I went through this in just a few days! 4 stars overall from me! Not sure if everything that happened would be plausible and at first it seems like it‘ll be similar to other thrillers but then ends up going its own way. Apparently it‘s going to be a Hulu series with Lindsay Lohan, so I will watch that when it comes out. If you suspend some disbelief it ends up being a very enjoyable ride.

This was a very engrossing listen! The 15 hour audiobook went by quickly! It went in a different direction than what I was expecting, but still very good! There was a lot of suspense throughout. I think I‘ve read Finder before. If you‘re intrigued by books about Russia & Russia/US relations then I‘d definitely recommend this one!

5 stars! I loved this book; it was my kind of thriller! A smart & capable female main character. A captivating plot. A whodunit but not in a locked room way. Good supporting characters & a rare, fascinating condition that the killer has. This was my 1st Helen Fields book & I want to read more! I hope she writes another book featuring Midnight Jones! I highly recommend this book!

Overall 4.5 stars! I really enjoyed Lila and her extended & blended family. There were a few cliches thrown in so that detracted from a 5 star rating. I thought the grandads were the best & am glad characters grew the way they needed to. I really enjoy Moyes‘ writing! The narrator did a fantastic job!

This was a nice change of scenery, it taking place in Paris, France. It was nice to see more of the Gamache family dynamics w/ focus on his son Daniel. The action in this one really picked up towards the end. I‘m excited that I‘m almost caught up in listening to this series. If you‘re a fan of the series, you should enjoy this one too!

I really enjoyed this one! I read it bc the movie is being filmed now & I wanted to make sure I avoided spoilers & I‘m excited w/ the cast of it. This was really good even if the sex scenes were graphic (I‘m not typically a ‘romance‘ reader & was like ok I get it lol). I enjoyed the mystery & suspense. I didn‘t want to finish it bc I liked how it kept making me wonder what was going to happen next & I don‘t always get that w/ thrillers nowadays.

Coben‘s books are always quick reads & have interesting narrators. I had read Fool Me Once years ago but watched the Netflix adaptation of it a couple months ago, so I remembered most of it thankfully. I was a little let down with the twist at the end, I thought it could‘ve gone somewhere more original & innovative but it was still very enjoyable. If you‘ve read his books & Fool Me Once then I definitely recommend this one!

This was phenomenal on audio w/ an entire cast performing it! 4 stars! I listened to it for book club & wasn‘t sure what to expect since I‘ve never read the author & wondering if it was going to be anything like I, Tonya. I felt like this book was too long & so much back & forth of alliances that it can give you whiplash. To me the narrator who did Kat sounded at times like Amanda Knox did on her memoir (which I listened to). Random I know.

This was a very quick read & I loved it! 4.5 stars. I initially read it bc the adaptation of it premieres on Lifetime 3/29 & I had the book I got as a bargain book from Books-a-Million so I picked it up & flew through it. It was what I needed to get me out of a slight physical reading slump. I‘ve read Liv Constantine & have even met them & I want to read their other books that I haven‘t read already!

After taking a 2 month break from the Gamache series bc of other audio holds coming in @ the library I really enjoyed this installment of the series. The ongoing mystery of who killed Vivian was very well done & while I ended up predicting the culprit I enjoyed the intrigue & suspense! I can‘t believe Jean Guy & Annie are going 2 France! I‘m eager 2 read the next book!! I want to finish the 4 remaining books before the 20th comes out later this yr

This book had a lot going on! I felt it dragged at times, but overall was engaged in the story. It was very anxiety provoking at times bc of the type of relationship 1 of the narrators is in. It‘s a heavy read @ times & lighter @ others. As Evie tries 2 get her memory back more plot lines r introduced. I was satisfied w/ how the story came together. I really cared about Evie & Drew as characters. I‘d be intrigued to read the author‘s other work.

This is the 1st book I‘ve read of the author & I enjoyed it, although it seemed to lag in the middle. Reading the book description you think it‘s going to be more thriller, but it‘s paced more like a mystery. I appreciated the character development. The story takes an unexpected turn part way through which adds layers to it. I have physical copies of her books Wrong Place Wrong Time & Just Another Missing Person so I‘m eager to read those.

Maybe I don‘t like thrillers that take place in an isolated setting, but for me this one really didn‘t have a mystery to it. In the description of the book it says that she finds a picture of herself as a child in one of the cabins, so clearly she was there as a child & some people in the family know something. The characters not being developed well enough also annoyed me. It had its moments of suspense but overall was an average read at best.

Read this for book club. I really enjoyed this & the many twists along the way. I did predict the big twist & not entirely sure it worked for me but still really enjoyed it. The Collector‘s Edition has bonus content that adds to the story. I‘m excited for the sequel to see what happens next! I‘ll be seeing the author in person when she tours for it so I‘m excited! It‘d make an interesting film or tv adaptation.

having listened 2 this & physically read We Solve Murders, I‘ve come 2 the conclusion I don‘t find Richard Osman funny. I enjoyed the characters enough in this 1 but there were so many, it was hard to follow listening to the audio. Maybe because I‘m not in the best headspace right now, I just wanted it to be done so I could listen to something else. I heard the other books in the series are better so will give those a listen at some point.

Read this 4 book club! I really liked it! It‘s a family saga, but not a long, drawn-out one. It‘s very accessible. A lot of characters to get used to at 1st but it gets easier. I‘ll be eager to hear what ppl thought of Lila & her way of parenting. It has a satisfying end. Some heavy topics at times but very well done! 4 stars.

I went through this fairly quickly given its near 500 pages. 4.5 stars. Hendrix does a phenomenal job of writing female characters. This book has the right amount of supernatural twist that you know about going in. If you‘ve read previous books of his, you should enjoy this one too! Maybe it could‘ve been shorter at points but overall a terrific read & wow what woman were put through because they were pregnant young. This book is an ode to them.

Just finished this audiobook! It was very well performed! A different & interesting premise for the podcast genre of thrillers. There were times I thought the pacing lagged a bit but I really enjoyed the ending which made me give it a 4 star rating on Goodreads. I‘m not one to blink at foul language but it was excessive at times. It took longer to care about the characters than I would‘ve liked. This one overall is solid & I recommend it!

This was an excellent FBI serial killer thriller! The PAR Unit of the FBI (Patterns & Recognition) gets put on the case of a killer who is killing other serial killers. Yes, it‘s a bit like Dexter, if it were from the FBI‘s POV instead of Dexter‘s. I enjoyed the main character & thought the narrator did a great job. I‘m glad that this is the 1st of a series! Looking forward to the next one!

Ok, I really didn‘t like this book. I didn‘t like any of the characters & maybe bc I was so frustrated with them that when one of the big twists came, I was just confused & didn‘t really care what happened.I also am annoyed with books taking place on islands 🤷🏼‍♀️ I feel like it‘s been overdone. This is the 2nd of Feeney‘s that I‘ve read that I‘ve been so-so about, so I‘m not sure her books are for me. The audiobook actors were great though!

This book is very good! Definitely anxiety provoking as you read the POV of the woman he‘s keeping in the shed & then in his new house. It was nice to read a different approach to the serial killer genre of thrillers. In some ways I‘d like a sequel to see how some of the characters are doing after the ordeal they go through. Highly recommended & would make a great limited series!

What an excellent book! The narrator is phenomenal at bringing Maddy Banks‘ story to life! As someone who struggles with mental illness (though not bipolar) it‘s always great to see stories feature an accurate portrayal of it. It can be a hard book to listen to at times (*trigger warning* there‘s graphic descriptions of cutting) but a worthy one. It makes me feel sad to think of those who suffer that don‘t have Maddy‘s resources & familial support

This one has been on my shelf since 2016 & with the upcoming film adaptation & sequel to this 1, I figured I needed to read it! I really enjoyed this one! One of the better of Ware‘s books. There was only 1 part of the book where it stalled for a little bit & I liked the ending so I‘m eager to see why this 1 warranted a sequel. I found Lo a likable character & was satisfied w/the ending. A solid 4 maybe 4.5 stars!

Just finished the audio! I love Lange‘s books! What a beautiful family drama that is so realistic. The writing is so good & the characters so rich you get sucked right in! It‘s my 1st time listening to one of her books & the narrators did such a great job! I look forward to what she comes up with next! Her books would make great mini series! I wish her books would get adapted!

Read this 4 book club. I haven‘t read Thursday Murder Club (TMC) series yet, but plan to on audiobook. Idk what Osman‘s style of writing is in TMC but at times here it came off as trying too hard to be funny or maybe I don‘t have the right sense of humor. It was overall enjoyable & I liked the characters enough although at times there seemed like too many. I would read the 2nd in this series, but don‘t think I‘d buy it. I‘m eager for TMC though!

It took me a couple hours to feel invested in the story but once it did I was intrigued. This is definitely more of a soap opera like book & there were plenty of twists. I haven‘t read the author before so I‘d be curious to read her others. Not the best thriller I read as the only sympathetic characters were the main character & the kids. It makes for a thrilling listen overall.

This wasn‘t one of my favorites, except for the parts with Amelia. I‘m glad she came back. The main storyline about the will & inheritance I didn‘t care as much for, but liked how everything turned out in the end. It‘s still a Pick because no matter how tedious parts might be, it‘s always resolved at the end in the way you come to expect from Penny. I‘m eager for the next one to see what becomes of relationships between some of the characters.

My 1st read of 2025! If this was the final book in The Housemaid series then it was a good one! It was nice that the suspicion was on someone other than Millie in this book. There were still plenty of twists! I didn‘t see them coming. It was interesting with the time jumps in this series. You should like it if you liked the previous books!

This was my last read of 2024! A good short story to add to the world of The Housemaid! It was nice to have a little POV from Enzo. If you like The Housemaid books, you will like this addition to the series. I read it after reading the second book The Housemaid‘s Secret. Will Millie survive her wedding day? Find out!

I think this one may have been even better than the 1st one! I was really blown away by the big twist! I was surprised by the time jump between this 1 & the 1st 1 but it made sense in the end. I read this book in a day! I liked Millie‘s maturity & restraint in this one but she‘s still the Housemaid we know & love. I‘m eager to read the next one!

Another great thriller from McFadden that I read in a day! I really do love her books. If you‘ve liked her previous books you will like this one too!! This would make a great movie or mini series. I‘m eager to read the remaining McFadden‘s on my shelf!

There‘s a lengthy interview between the author & audiobook narrator at the end of it which I always enjoy! I was kind of stumped throughout this one bc the structure of it was different but as always I‘m glad when it gets towards the end and Gamache lays everything out for the reader. The cobrador stuff was a bit much & didn‘t care much for the newer characters. So I‘m glad I got through this one. Still a solid listen though. 4 stars.

So I started this book a year & a half ago & then put it down but I always remembered where I was in the story so this holiday break I picked it up to finish it & I‘m glad I did! It‘s interesting to have a mother-daughter relationship at the core of the thriller. I thought it did a good job balancing between the 2 narrators & what happened in the past & present & the twists along the way! I highly recommend this one!

3.5 stars rounded down on Goodreads. I didn‘t really care 4 any of the characters but after a twist near the end maybe that was the point. I generally don‘t read books focused on those suffering from addiction but the premise sounded really good so I gave it a shot. But the pacing wasn‘t consistent & several times almost lost interest. I was able 2 finish it & the story concluded well but I felt indifferent 2 it. I wouldn‘t read the author again.

I really enjoyed this book so I‘m a little confused by the lower Goodreads rating for it. This is for mystery thriller book club at the beginning of January; it should make for an interesting discussion. Some of the revelations were predictable but some weren‘t and it was an easier read. Definitely an interesting premise! If you read the book synopsis & thought it sounded good, I‘d recommend you read it. You‘ll probably like it!

I listened 2 this 4 book club. I wouldntve read it on my own, as I‘m not a fan of magical realism. It was listenable but I‘ll admit I wasn‘t fully engaged w/ it the whole time. It was just odd. I know the environment is an important issue but I feel there were other ways 2 tell that story. Grace was a likable character so I kept listening 4 her; it was nice to go on the journey w/ her. Just finished listening to the 12th Louise Penny! I‘m really enjoying these stories as I go through the series. This one had an interesting premise, taking place in Three Pines and the Police Academy. It was good to see Gamache working in some way again with the police & interesting to see how the 4 cadets in this book grew over time. The reveal of the murderer was done well. If you‘ve read the previous books you‘ll like this one!

I read this for book club. At 1st I didn‘t think I‘d like it because of the Elizabethan era, but as I kept reading it I got really invested in Emilia‘s character in the 1500s timeline & was eager to see what would happen next! If you like historical fiction, you should like this one. The timeline set in current times is good too! It is interesting to be presented with a story that shows how Shakespeare didn‘t write the works credited to him.

This 11th installment of the Armand Gamache series is one of the better ones. I enjoyed the mystery presented and the history involved including of the super gun. I loved the touch of espionage to it. If you liked the previous installments you will definitely enjoy this one. It‘s always interesting when new characters are introduced but they‘re supposed to have been there the whole time. I‘m eager to continue this fascinating series!

This was an interesting installment of the Gamache series. I probably got to know more about the fictional art world than I ever wanted to know. I was surprised by something that happened in the end and wondered what led the author to make that decision. This was the last of the series narrated by Ralph Cosham. If you liked previous books in the series you will like this one except maybe the end, but I personally didn‘t mind it.

This was definitely a brilliant installment in the Armand Gamache series! So much going on! If you‘ve read the previous books you will like this one! I was so pleased with the ending! I thought this had a good balance of the case being solved and the background plot coming to the forefront. I am eager to read the next one!

This made for a good listen even though I kept mixing up the names of the Monks. This story was more about Gamache‘s and Beauvoir‘s relationship which I‘m absolutely fine with! Even though it was one of the longer ones, it kept me engaged & listening! I‘m really enjoying this series and am eager to see how the next books turn out!

Finished this @ the Tampa airport while I was waiting for my flight home! A very cute novella! I love Molly‘s character! I‘m eager to read the new Maid novel coming out in April! I don‘t think you need to read the previous 2 books to follow it, but I definitely recommend them bc they‘re so good!! I have a soft spot for Molly bc she is on the autism spectrum (although it‘s not specifically stated) like me!

Finished it this morning! Liane is a must buy author 4 me! I was very excited 4 this premise! It‘s a thick one but it reads quickly w/ short chapters & switching POV. You‘re not sure where it‘s heading at first but just keep reading. I‘m typing this as I‘m ready to get on a plane. I hope no one predicts my death on it! (Knock on wood!) I‘ll be eager to discuss this one at book club! I just hate that I‘ll have to wait a few years for her next one!

This one was enjoyable enough! I liked the story happening between Gamache and Beauvoir. It‘s something how murders keep occurring in the village of Three Pines 😂. I went through this one fairly quickly. Features a lot of artists which isn‘t a topic I‘m interested in per se, but it was still really good. It doesn‘t have the tension that Book 6 has which was almost disappointing. I‘m eager to continue the series!

I will admit I predicted a lot of what happened but it was still an enjoyable read. I really liked the characters Elise King and Kiki Nunn. This is the 2nd in a series but I don‘t think you needed to have read the 1st one in order to enjoy this one. I‘ll eagerly wait for the next one!

I listened to this for book club. It‘s an important story, but I don‘t think I was the intended audience for this. It‘s important to listen to stories about alcoholism & drug abuse across BIPOC communities & see how the traditional methods for recovery may not be the same for them as it is for white people. Jessica‘s story hopped around some & was a little tricky to follow chronologically. I‘d read this to open your eyes on the topic if so desired

This was the best 1 yet! There were multiple threads throughout this 1 & 1 of them being very thrilling which I enjoyed & was a nice change of pace! I found myself waiting to get to those parts! It was interesting to see the investigation into the death of the hermit by the 2nd in command & how he situated himself into village life while investigating. There‘s a bonus interview with the author at the end of this audiobook! I‘m eager 4 the next 1!
