Free: My Search for Meaning | Amanda Knox
4 posts | 3 read | 1 reading | 1 to read
Amanda Knox reflects on her world-famous confinement in an Italian prison and her return to an "ordinary" life--revealing hard-won truths about purpose and fulfillment. Amanda Knox spent nearly four years in prison and eight years on trial for a murder she didn't commit--and became a notorious tabloid story in the process. Though she was exonerated, it's taken more than a decade for her to reclaim her identity and truly feel free. Free recounts how Knox survived prison, the mistakes she made, the misadventures she had reintegrating into society, and culminates in the untold story of her return to Italy--and the extraordinary relationship she's built with the man who sent her to prison. It is the gripping saga of what happens when you become the definition of notorious, but have quietly returned to the matters of a normal life--seeking a life partner, finding a job, or even just going out in public. In harrowing (and sometimes hilarious) detail, Amanda tells the story of her personal growth and hard-fought wisdom, recasting her public reckoning as a private reflection on the search for meaning and purpose that will speak to everyone persevering through hardship.

I wasn‘t the first woman to be slapped with a scarlet letter, and I know I won‘t be the last.

4.5 stars, rated down 2 4 4 Goodreads. This 1 was a little slow 2 start, with the 1st 3 hours being on her state of mind while she was in prison & I got more interested once she was let out. It‘s very powerful in how you can overcome adversity & face those who wronged you. I enjoyed Amanda‘s reading of the audiobook. If u read her 1st memoir & liked it, u should like this 1 2! I‘m glad I have the physical book bc there r some excellent takeaways!

JamieArc I always recommend the tagged book for those interested in Knox. It‘s about something totally different, but there‘s an afterward that is commentary on the Italian judicial system with the Knox case. It‘s really interesting 2w
MyNamesParadise @JamieArc oh thank you for this! I had heard of the book before but didn‘t realize what it was about. And it features the same prison Amanda Knox was in. I‘ll have to check it out! 2w
JamieArc @MyNamesParadise I hope you like it! 2w

Raw, powerful, and at times emotional. Knox‘s story is one that most of us know, and I am in awe of how she has been able to find freedom and peace in the aftermath. It‘s truly inspirational.

Amanda Knox is known as the girl who went on trail for the murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher. Her first book,'Waiting to be Heard,' tells mostly about the trail. 'Free' tells a bit about the trail, her time in prison, and her life since.

I enjoyed this book because I can remember her trail. She spent 4 years in prison, then 8 before she was finally cleared by the Court of Cessation, that like the US Supreme Court, but in Italy.

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ I have to say she's a better person than me. There's no way I would have gone back to Italy and then met the man who put me in prison for something I didn't do. No way! She's a very strong person. I am glad she has gotten married, has a family, and seems to be doing good with her life.
