Mrshawaii Prince was not a great guy. This memoir from his ex-wife confirms things about him that I suspected all along, that he was manipulative, cruel, and selfish. He was a musical genius to be sure, but not a good husband. I genuinely like Mayte and mostly felt sorry for her as I read this book. 4y

Mrshawaii This book was mentioned in Season of the Witch and had been a goodreads recommendation so I‘m finally reading it. It‘s a long one. 4y

Also discovered Rick Atkinson recently. This is my third book by him.

Third book in the series. I feel like I know the prime ministers.

This is a memoir by the model who starred in the “Cherry Pie” music video in the 80s. I was expecting a fun, sexy beach read, but walked away from it feeing sad. She was obviously raised to think her job is to be pretty. She seems to have no other ambition.

This is awesome. “The Magicians”, in a school for spies, sort of.

Mrshawaii The first book in a series. Read the last book first and enjoyed it so much I bought the rest of the series. 5y

I‘m a junkie for Beatles books. This one is by a guy involved in the production of some of their later albums. He doesn‘t like George Harrison

At this time last year, I was reading Hue 1968, about the decisive battle in the Vietnam War. This book is about the events that led up to the war.

Mrshawaii It was. The best part is that it‘s a continuing conversation that circles back on itself. It‘s funny too. 6y

My favorite lines: “when you get aroused playing Scrabble, that‘s love, baby”; “Richard, take a drink. You are so goddamned dull when you‘re not drinking”

Pickpick

I love language. I love learning about how languages evolve. I love words. Lately, I've decided that I'm going to obtain a PhD in linguistics. Therefore, this book is the bomb.

Brooke_H A PhD in linguistics! Holy cow, lady! I am well impressed! 🎓 8y

Informative, but Hoskyns is a tad snarky for my tastes.
