Of course I would pick the fifth in a series to start. That said, it was a good stand alone book. It was heartwarming, and an easy read.

This was one of my January Book of the Month picks.

There was a lot that I loved about this book. It gives some new Nancy Drew tv show vibes which was actually really fun.

It took me a bit to get into the plot of this book, but as I read more I started to love it. I can‘t wait for the next book to come out bc I think it‘ll be even better.

The so-so rating is because it took me a while to get invested in the book, and I was a bit skeptical for the first half about whether I would enjoy the plot, and how it‘s got a different feel to most fantasy I read even if there are still some common themes.

Topics of Conversation | Miranda Popkey
Panpan

First, I felt that this should have come with a warning. Some of the topics and conversations blind sided me, and I think they could be triggering to people.
The writing style was interesting bc it was different, but sometimes confusing.
And I felt absolutely no connection to the main character.
I do think this could be a good book club read because it could start some discussion since people seem to either love or hate it.

ScriboGero I got this through BOM and don‘t feel like the BOM description represented the same thing as the on book summary. I‘m going to give it a chance so we‘ll see. 4y
Kellykoalla @ScriboGero I also got it through BotM and it was definitely not what I expected. I thought maybe I was just misunderstanding what they meant though in their description. 4y

This was a cute chick flick style romance. I think what threw me is that I didn‘t connect to the main character enough. She has ideas of romance that are very traditionally romantic, almost story book. It was a bit much for me at times, and made it feel less realistic. But that‘s just because I have different ideas of the type of romance I want in my relationships.
I am interested in reading the next two to learn about the other friends.

I finally read this. It won a lot of awards from books clubs I‘m a part of in 2019, and I finally got my hands on a copy.

I can see why it won so much. I loved the style and how unique it was. I also really appreciated how some parts touched on sensitive topics like women in media, mental health and addiction as some examples. I think that‘s really important.

Between Sisters | Kristin Hannah

Kristin Hannah came highly recommended from many of my friends and coworkers. I finally got around to reading one of her books that was loaned to me. I can see why so many people love her writing.

This book was a pretty heartwarming, easy read. It did have a twist at the end, but I liked that the twist brought some details together.

I started reading this with a modern outlook and I wasn‘t a fan. Once I started thinking about the time frame it was written, it made finishing it easier. I do think it would be an interesting book club or school book to discuss some social issues.

DieAReader This was my favourite HS English class read! I started buying books I either had to read in HS or books I knew the other classes were reading. I‘d like to read them with fresh eyes & life experiences I have had. Fresh perspective so to speak. 4y

This book was an okay thriller but I wish it had scared me more.

Winter means: cozy fires and witchy books.

I‘ve always loved Anne Rice‘s vampire novels and can‘t believe I‘ve never dived into her witchy series.

Curiouser_and_curiouser My friend keeps telling me how good they are. I have Anne Rice's vampire series from so many years ago but my friend says the witchy ones are much better. I wasn't convinced.. until now 🙂 4y
Kellykoalla I‘ll be honest. I‘m still working on trying to finish this one. I absolutely loved her vampire novels though. 4y

I‘ve decided that I really just love The Game is Life series.

This was a fun little prequel to the first two books that helps shed some light on the universe the books are set in. However, if you haven‘t read any of the books yet, I would still recommend reading this third. The first two books were fun without the backstory.

It took me longer to read this than it should have, but overall I loved this ending to the trilogy.

That said, there were some side character arcs that I didn‘t fully grasp the relevancy of, but they were still interesting.

I was right. I did love this book from beginning to end. The character development, fantasy-esque plot, and all the little details made this book lovable to me. Now I just can‘t wait to read the next in the series!

It‘s not everyday that I find a book that the second I start reading, I already know it is going to be amazing. I‘m pretty sure this is one of those books.
