The Widow | Fiona Barton

I've read some bad reviews of this one, but I'm really enjoying it. The last few books I've read haven't kept my attention this well

Finally starting this book. Since our ship just arrived in West Africa and I'll be here for a year I won't be able to see the movie for a long time

I did not like this book. I felt like the author tried too hard to write intellectual prose, but it just sounded ridiculous and didn't fit the story. Also the main character (and all other characters for that matter) was unlikeable. And I didn't feel like there was enough explanation for their actions

I love how she writes about this breakup. How she expected it and almost looked forward to experiencing a pain that felt tragic and deep because she loved him so much.

It took me a while to start liking this book. I was comparing it to "Me Before You" so of course it's not gonna measure up....if you read this book as if it is its own individual book about grief and life, rather than a sequel I think you can enjoy it more.

Bookartbookmarks Totally agree with your review! 8y

This book is reminding me of all the things I loved about being in a developing country and some of the things that make me laugh...like here, her hostess thinks she would be lonely in a room by herself when that's exactly what we tend to want as Americans

Texasblues There are so many things that we take for granted that would be considered, if not miraculous, at least a sign of great wealth. 8y

This book is in my top 5. I didn't feel like the movie dos it justice. The book is so personal. Even though the characters may be soo different from you, you can empathize with them. I think this book made me a better person.

Omg. This book. If u have not seen this movie, you have to read this! There are so many "Holy S&?!" moments. It was a psychological thrill at its core. Some of the most entertaining books are when you can get in the mind of someone F'ed up in the head, and this one is just crazy. One of my faves!

One of my favorite books. All of the books in this series were amazing! Any book that can make me cry has to be powerful and well written enough that I truly feel for the narrator, and these books made me cry more than any others. Great WWII fiction set in Russia and a love story

Elizabeth2 I feel the same way about books that make me cry! 8y

So far this book is nowhere near as good as "Me Before You"

CareBear That's so disappointing, I loved Me Before You! 8y
Katiepecbvda Me too. I cried so much 8y
FeastingOnFiction I felt the same but then I realized there is NO WAY she could have recaptured the magic that was Me Before You. It was too good. 8y
