City of Ghosts | Victoria Schwab

People think that ghosts only come out at night, or on Halloween, when the world is dark and the walls are thin. But the truth is, ghosts are everywhere. In the bread aisle at your grocery store, in the middle of your grandmother's garden, in the front seat on your bus. Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there.

I created the OASIS because I never felt at home in the real world. I didn't know how to connect with the people there. I was afraid, for all of my life. Right up until I knew it was ending. That was when I realized, as terrifying and painful as reality can be, it's also the only place where you can find true happiness. Because reality is real.

A beautiful short story, read it in one sitting. Holly is a free spirit with witty comments and answers to questions no one asked. I loved the atmosphere in the story, but I was expecting a bit more to happen. Maybe it is one of the stories that truly hits only a few days after finishing it?

I'm speechless. The book is wonderfully written and it reads smoothly. Loved Atticus, who was just too good to be real... and he wasn't, after all he's a fictional character, right? Must read for everyone, you'll get a totally new perspective on life.

One of the best books I've ever read. It's set a bit in the future, a story of a young boy and his little sister. The themes in the book are very relevant and it seems like they are just starting to show up in our non-fictional world. Definitely a book worth your time!

(Slovak version) well... at the beginning I thought I will put the book away. Some of the dialogues were a bit unnatural and I found the general topic quite silly. But I have to say that I really got caught by the way the story revealed itself. Turned out to be an interesting read.

I definitely have to recommend this book to you, especially people interested in history can easily find interesting connections between the real events and the story. Loved reading it and looking forward to the next book.
